Owlets Banking

After totally clear skies all day yesterday, a few clouds gathered at dusk for the painter to paint.

Peter with a moon halo last night.

I walked outside to photograph the moon and got clouds covering the moon. Maybe it will clear up later so I can get the moon.

The owlets were banking on the top of the levee and down on the bank along the clearwater ditch last night. Paul flew up into a tree on the other side of the Clearwater ditch and Mama Owl brought him something to eat and then flew off to go back to Wowlmart as quickly as she flew in. When it was almost dark Mama Owl came back with either a bat or a mouse. She perched close to me just long enough for me to get a photo of her, then she took off at warp speed.

  1. How lovely of Mama to pose for you! Love that she shops at Wowlmart!
And they are all over the place those lovely wowlets.

    • They are exploring a lot more. They let us get surprisingly close to them when they were on the ground. In the first photo in the 4rth set of three, Peter decided I was too close. He puffed up and started clicking his beak at me. Thanks, Dale.

  2. I’ve caught up with all these beautiful scenes from your world. It had been a joy watching the owlets grow up.

You are getting all the colorful skies down there, but I know a good portion of that is smoke from fires. I wish I could send you some of our rain. So far, it is plentiful this June, and tomorrow is supposed to be the wettest day this weekend. No moon and stars visible here.

I would love to see some of Laurie’s artwork again, too. It has been a while.

  3. What a wonderful sky in the first shot. The owls are very active and always hungry. Warp speed is needed to go to Wowlmarkt 🙂 Great shot of the dragonfly, sharp as a knife !

  4. That moon halo photo of Peter is amazing. Peter looks like he’s enjoying himself
