As I was telling Gigi, I was around 800 feet above the valley and 10 miles further away from the mountains than we are in the valley. The mountains look huge and close from the mesa as compared to the valley.
They look like they are RIGHT THERE!

Thanks, Gigi. When I photograph the mountains from the river, I’m about 10 miles from the base of the mountains. I’m at least 20 miles away from the mountains, about 800 feet above the valley when I took the different-view photo. There are strange optical illusions from the mesa that make the mountains look much bigger than from our view in the valley.
Either way…very impressive photo and it does look as if you would run right into it if you kept going . LOL It’s all about the prespective. 🙂

There are definitely times I miss that tasteless upper. Had a “problem” when I was a muuuuch younger coding fiend and forced to give it up – so painful I never went back. Any chance you can teach those kiddies to code, they have those crazy wild eyes of hopped up programming ninjas!! hehehe.
