I have so many tapes I’m afraid it would cost a fortune to have them digitized. Any commercial music I had on tape I liked, I either bought the CDs when they were available (I ripped all my CDs to my computer) or I purchased the songs on iTunes. My own recordings on cassette tapes are entombed on those tapes. Thanks, Geoff.
I have a big box of cassette tapes… most are rar DJ mixes or recordings of mixes done at a club on friends’ bdays. I hope to convert them to mp3… ‘one day’.
I remember cassette tapes well, and Rick and I still have boxes of them. We still have a 2 reel tape deck to play them on, but haven’t listened to them in a long while.
I see a lot of interesting conjured entities in those moonlit pre-dawn clouds. Your kitties are a beautiful bunch.
The last cassette tapes I had were in my car that was stolen… in 1996, in front of the Children’s Hospital in broad daylight! I was so upset. There were quite a few that had been made just for me.
Oh yes, I remember the cassette tapes. Occasionally, I’m still using them if I want to check out an old end mix recording we made many years ago on a Teac 4 track and Sansui 6 track recorder. I believe the animals still could talk in those days…
Thanks, Herman. I don’t have any tape decks left. I sold my 4-track tape deck years ago, and my high-end stereo recorder broke, and parts were no longer available. I have tons of tapes and nothing to play them on.
I didn’t know something like that cassette converter existed! It sure looks very interesting and maybe I’ll buy one in the future. My Technics cassette player is 34 years old but still working without any problems.
After vinyl records became very popular again people start buying cassettes again and it turned into another hype overhere.
I watched a review of a cassette to MP3 player. I found the player on Amazon for $15, so I ordered it. I’ll let you know how it works.
Vinyl and Cassettes are a thing over here as well. They might become more popular with everything going to subscription and the cost of subscriptions going up. Also, some big names have been de-platformed, and the subscribers lost their songs. With Vinyl, cassettes, and CDs, platforms like Spotify can’t deny you your music.
I don’t have a music subscription of any kind. I’m still using cd’s on a daily basis. I like to own the music I love without paying for it every month. Occasionally I’m buying some albums or songs from the iTunes store.
I’m looking forward to see how the player is going to work…
Cool. My mom worked in a radio station in the 1940s. We had a collection of 78 rpm records she cut in the studio because most shows were live back then. I gave them to a music officiado several years ago. Thanks, Liz.
Cats grazing, Predawn and Loki and Gwendolyn were the favourites today, Sir.
Oddly enough, I threw about 20 tapes down the waste chute yesterday. Hehe!
Cheers, Tim.
I definitely remember the cassette years and was the proud owner of a dual cassette deck that allowed me to dub from one to the other. Couple of years ago decided to toss my 800 strong cassette library. I do not miss the old tape splicing days.
Beautiful.
Thanks, Gigi.
I found some cassettes and had them digitized! Sound ok!

I hope you do it sooner rather than later. Thanks, Leenda.

Lovely images, too!
Sorry thieves. That sucked. The car was easy to replace, but the special cassette tapes were irreplaceable. Thanks, Dale.
The car was found and the starter fixed and air bags replaced (it was big business to steal airbags in ’96) but those cassettes… oh… 😦
As I said. Sorry thieves.
Bastids!
Dang sad that!
Very!!
👍🏻
Very nice.
Thanks, vermavkv.
I remember them. Great post.
Thanks, Shey.

I just checked, and Walkman-sized cassette to MP3 player/converters are available for $30. The description says it converts cassettes to MP3s without a computer. Amazing: https://www.amazon.com/Socobeta-Cassette-Converter-EZCAP230-Headphones/dp/B08GSMSHWV/ref=sr_1_1/

I don’t have music subscriptions, either. I ripped all my CDs to my computer and put playlists on thumb drives to play in the car.
Ditto. My favourite cd’s are also on the computer and personal playlists on a usb stick for my car.
We think a lot alike. Must be the cat in us.
Thanks for the link!
After watching videos on how the different models work, this is the one I ordered: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JL9CMUW
Thank you! I could use one of these.
They are reasonably priced.
I still have my dad’s collection of big band music he recorded off the radio onto cassette tapes.

Very cool! You’re welcome, Tim.
Dad had great taste in music! 👌🏻
He did!
Unquestionably with Big Bands. ♥
Substitute shies and That looks like the bottom of my closet .
That may be true for a lot of people with their shoes. Thanks, Holly.
Pretty sure! 😊
Shoes
This reminds me of the boxes of photos and videos I have… all from when the kids were growing up. One day I need to organize everything. 😵💫
Organizing is such a pain. Thanks, Ingrid.
I have the same drawer.. ugh.. love the pics, Tim💕
Thanks, Cindy.
💗💗💗

If you don’t have a way to listen to them. Or you plain can’t hear them if you did, so there’s no reason to keep them. Thanks, Inchy.
Cheers, Tim.
Great shots, Tim. Your place is quite surreal.
YES… I remember cassettes. LOLxx
Thanks, Resa.
I do remember cassettes. I used to do my Flashdance roller skating solo to music from cassettes.
You were a flash dancer on rollerskates? That must have been fun. Thanks, Robbie
Yes, I taught myself mainly. It was a huge craze when I was young and I loved it. I was also good at ice skating 🤩
We were doing ballroom, jazz, and modern dance when “Flash Dance” came out.

I’m with you on that. Thanks, Brian.
Super shots Tim … Loki and Gwendolyn are gorgeous! I sure do remember cassettes
Thanks, Julie.
