Wolf Moon on the rise again
Lyrics and Music by Timothy Price. Vocals by Teagan Riordain Geneviene.
Another year has passed, and the Wolf Moon is on the rise again as the new year begins. I wrote and recorded Wolf Is In The Winter Moon (above) to celebrate the 2024 Wolf Moon. To spare you my bloody awful voice, Teagan Riordain Geneviene @ Teagan’s Books gracious sang, lending her beautiful, smokey and slightly haunting voice to the song. Thank you so much, Teagan. I really appreciate your hard work on recording the vocals. Teagan’s voice is perfect for the song. She had the idea to add the howls underneath the chorus — a brilliant addition. You can find the lyrics at the end of the post.

We say two pTerodactyls flying over the Rio Grande tonight. This one turned around and flew close. I assume he wanted to be included in the celebration of the Wolf Moon.

Cranes under the light of the Wolf Moon

Wolf Moon over Resa’s Tree
Wolf Is In The Winter Moon
By Timothy Price
[Verse]
World of demons manifold and so robust
They are possessed and driven by an insatiable lust
For blood and power, their egos must be fed
Innocent souls of the quick and of the dead
Wolf’s in the Winter Moon that’s on the rise again
Sheds light on the darkness of a cold and cruel world
[Bridge]
Wolf and Moon together work in perfect harmony
Wolf and Moon together work to set our spirits free
[Chorus]
Wolves howl with praises and glory
Wolves howl with praises and glory
Wolves howl with praises and glory of the Winter Moon
Wolves howl with praises and glory
Wolves howl with praises and glory
Wolves howl with praises to bring an end to winter’s gloom
[Verse]
Wolf is in the Winter Moon that’s on the rise again
Shines its light on darkness as the year begins
[Bridge]
Wolf and Moon together work in perfect harmony
Wolf and Moon together work to set our spirits free
[Chorus]
Wolves howl with praises and glory
Wolves howl with praises and glory
Wolves howl with praises and glory of the Winter Moon
Wolves howl with praises and glory
Wolves howl with praises and glory
Wolves howl with praises to bring an end to winter’s gloom
[Outro]
Wolves howl with praises and glory of the Winter Moon
Wolves howl with praises to bring an end to winter’s gloom
Thanks for sharing this Wolf Moon. Anita
You’re welcome, Anita.
WOW!! Teagan did a fantastic job with your song!!! Any more collaborations in the offing??
Not at the moment. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
You are so kind, Liz — thanks very much. Tim and I have done a few song parody collaborations over the years. The posts would be in his archives. Although I think this is the first serious song we’ve done. Hugs.
You’re welcome, Teagan. The song was playing in my head long after I first listened to it.
Haha. I wasn’t sure if it was just me and all the time I spent working on it, but the song has been looping around in my mind for weeks. 😂
It’s an earworm all right!
It does hang in your head.
Teagan’s vocals made your fabulous song amazing.
Way to go Teagan!
This is a difficult song to sing, in spite of and because of the repetition, yet that’s what gives it its basic earthy feel. ….well to me anyway.
Great Wolf moon shots, Tim. My tree stands testament. Wolf moon, or any moon shots don’t get better over any tree.
Okay, I’m back to drawing in bed with a hot coco.
Thank you for this fab post! AROOO🌕🌕🌕🌕!!!!!!
Hugs for Teagan!
xo for Tim!
Thanks, Resa. Teagan was a real trooper given some technical difficulties she had to deal with. The wold moon loves you tree.
Yeah! Great song, great post!
Thanks Tim & Teagan! xx
Resa, thanks so much for recognizing the difficulty. I put a lot of work into getting my breathing to cooperate with the song. Then I was worried that I still wasn’t doing it justice, because the entire song was at the deepest limit of my range. But Tim saved it using the background tracks I made in just the right places. Thanks for your kindness and support. Hugs coming back to you on the howl. Arooo!
Resa did her part on commenting and adding her input. She’s so supportive of both of us.
You did great! Aroooo hugs!
A nice tribute to the Wolf Moon, nice pictures too !
Thanks, Rudi.
Thank you kindly, Rudi. Hugs.
What can I say? Wolves are my fav animals, so you had me at wolves. Teagan’s voice is just the right sort of voice as you say, smoky and haunting to bring your song to life. But also then there’s the cranes and these pics are amazing.
Thanks, Shey. It was overcast all day, I was happy the moon came out for the occasion.
It did you proud.
You are so kind, Shey — thank you. Hugs.
Teagan, it was great, honestly. And hard to sing with very little accompaniment too. Nice low throaty notes too.
And the vocals take a lot of breath control because there are no breask from the verse to the chorus. I tried a break in the verse and before the bridge, but it didn’t seem to work. So there are few vocal breaks.
Yep. Sometimes a break just doesn’t work, so hats off to Teagan.
I blush. 🙂
Teagan’s vocals were a nice surprise in your new song. It’s always a pleasure to hear your new musical adventures…
Thanks, Herman.
Thank you kindly, Herman. It was a fun challenge to do an entire song at the lowest part of my vocal range. But thank goodness for Tim’s expertise with the sound equipment! Hugs.
My pleasure, Teagan. I always enjoy Tim’s songs and this one was a nice surprise!
These outstanding photographs are my favourites…..I will have to keep going back to them over and over again….and the poem is wonderful. Thank you Timothy:)
Thanks, Janet.
Wonderful lyrics Tim, and the Light is certainly shining in those dark places.. Loved your photography … I have yet to click on your link of your recording… xx Thank you for sharing x
Thanks, Sue.
Wow! Such a great song, Timothy! I love it! Very Halloweenish. Also, sounds very Native American. That wolfish spirit comes through loud and clear. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Dawn. I’m happy you liked the song. We put a lot of work into it.
Tim, the closeup with reflection of the crane is magnificent. Yay for the moon on fighting through the clouds.
Your song is perfect for the weather we’ve been having lately. It’s a wonderful song for lyrics and music alone. However, the work you did in producing the recording is amazing. LOL, I had never heard myself singing with a chorus of “mes” before. Thanks for letting me be part of this and for getting my New Year turned around. Big hugs.
I’m happy we could work together on this song. It came out well, thanks to you.
No, my friend. You did the lion’s share both in work and creativity. 🙂
But all the work would have been for naught if I had to use my vocals.
What a perfect collaboration! That first shot is spectacular. The others are fabulous, as well, of course. Love he closeup of the pTer. Beauty all over.
Thanks, Dale. I finally got your card. It’s beautiful!
You are most welcome.
Yay! Noted for next time! I’ll be using yet another of my own images. It worked out rather well, I’m thinking.
Wolf and Moon together…. what a hauntingly beautiful song! Bravo Tim and Teagan!
…and wonderful photos!
Thanks, Marina.
Thanks, Marina. The song was already haunting, but Tim’s “magic” with the recording in finalizing the sound was amazing.
Tim works wonders with everything he does and never seizes to amaze me! Beautiful voice, Teagan! xo
Thanks for the confidence, Marina. I tend to make things work, but how wonderfully they work can be questioned.
Not by me!
Fantastic collaboration, great work both of you!!!
Thank you kindly, Tiffany. It was good to work with Tim again. Hugs.
Thanks, Tiffany. It was fun.
A beautiful selection of moon, reflections, silhouettes and sky, Tim. I saw the full moon briefly last night coming back from Corvallis. She is a beauty! Rain during the night here.
Thanks, Lavinia.
And that is a beautiful song. Have you recorded it yet?
Hi, Lavinia. Tim’s amazing recording is with the picture of Wile E. Coyote against the moon.
Stay safe and warm. Hugs.
Found it, Teagan and Tim. It was a cookie issue. Listening now, and enjoying it.
Thanks, Lavinia.
As Teagan mentioned, click on the SoundCloud embedded in the post or click on the link on the title of the song to listen to it.
This may be the best collaboration yet! Very, very good!
You are so kind, Lavinia — thank you. ❤
Thanks, Lavinia.
In the reader, things don’t often show up if they require extra cookies to be enabled. It often just shows up as white space, nothing there.
Very cool collaboration, Tim and Teagan. Hits all the right notes…and really does create a haunting atmosphere for wolves acknowledging a winter moon in their own, unique way. Well done!
Thanks very much, Bruce. I had to chuckle though, because hitting all those low notes was a challenge. Tim did such a great job with everything about this song. Hugs.
Thanks, Bruce. We worked hard on this song.
Fun collaboration. I love the wolf moon pterodactyl heron!
Thanks, Brad.
Amazing song! Your guitar, the wolf howls, and Teagan’s voice blend so well together. And the photos, especially the one with the cranes under the wolf moon light, are awesome
Thanks, JYP. I’m happy you liked it.
Thank you kindly! Everybody needs to howl at the moon now and then. 😀 Hugs.
Standing ovation Tim and Teagan too! First off, your first picture is like a photograph…. Stunning! The lyrics are awesome and I was so excited to get your song as I’ve been waiting for another one! You guys are a great team with your instrumentals and her voice as well. Congratulations and howling to the moon with you both. I was out taking pics last night and should have stopped my car in route to get the first one.. 👏👏❤️👏
Love this❣️
“Wolf and Moon together work in perfect harmony
Wolf and Moon together work to set our spirits free”
Thanks for the big smile your enthusiasm gave me, Cindy. I worked very hard on the song to get it right, but Tim did the lion’s share of work. Hugs.
Well! I’m happy you liked our musical project. Teagan made the song work the way I imagined it. Thanks, Cindy.
You’re so welcome! A great team effort! 🙌
That Pterodactyl looks like it is on a bombing run.
It bombed my song. Thanks, Brian.
Hey guys … great work! Perfect voice for the song Teagan .. And top shots Tim
Thanks, Julie.
You are so kind, Julie — thank you. Hugs.
[…] working hard on a music project with the person who’s at the door. Here’s a link to Wolf is in the Winter Moon, lyrics and guitars (three of them!) by Tim Price. That’s yours truly on vocals, and […]
You two make a great team, Tim 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks, Chris. Tim did the heavy lifting, but it was a fun challenge. Hugs.
You’re right, Tim. Teagan’s voice is perfect and the lyrics and music are fabulous. A great collaboration. I hope we see (hear) more of those. Congratulations to both!
Thanks Olga. I think there we be more collabs between us.
I actually ordered a cheap keyboard (my piano isn’t in the right room, and it’s sadly out of tune) while we were working on this — because I got hugely annoyed at myself when I couldn’t find a harmony. That never used to be a problem. Age, I guess… (Or maybe I needed an excuse to get myself a new toy. LOL!)
Even cheap keyboards are really good these days. Plus, you can practice with headphones and no one knows you’re playing.
The neighbors not hearing it was my chief thought. Although if the dog catchers doesn’t stop it’s 3 hour nightly chorus, I might stop caring. 😈 LOL.
I really appreciate you visiting both posts, Olga. Heartfelt thanks for all your support.
Cool song and photos! I’ve followed Teagan’s blog for a while, and it’s neat to hear her sing. I think the layered vocals worked really well for a night-time, haunting effect.
Thanks Dave. adding the background vocals was Teagan’s idea. Brilliant of her.
You are so kind, Dave — thank you. Hearing the recording was an unreal experience — I had never sung along with myself. LOL. Tim did fantastic work putting the recording together. There are 3 different tracks of him playing different guitars too, in addition to my various vocal pieces. Thanks for visiting both posts. Hugs.
I think I might run out of synonyms for Well Done!, Tim. Great photos, and the song is mysterious and evocative of the Wolf Moon spirit. Teagan did a great job, as did you on the music. The entire collaboration is a success.
Thanks, Dan. Teagan’s voice really made the song mysterious and haunting.
Quite a nice collaboration. Congrats to both of you.
Dan, you and Tim both are far too kind about me singing. But thank you, very much. 🙂 I blush. Thanks for visiting both posts. Hugs.
Love this! I can slready tell its going to stay with me for a while 🙂
Thanks, D.L. It does tend to stick in your head. More haunting than catchy, however.
I think it’s both!
Thanks so much, Denise. The song is still in my head. Hugs.
Hi Timothy, hi Teagan, this is a great song. The lyrics and music are full of mystery and aTeagan’s singing dies them both justice 💜
Thanks, Robbie.
Thank you kindly, Robbie. I appreciate you spending time here. Hugs.
🎼🎤🎸
This was great, Tim and Teagan. Well done
Thanks, John.
😁
Heartfelt thanks, John. Happy Groundhog Day.
Happy early spring. 😳
