Landings

Dawn

There are a lot of photos in this post, starting with the light changes throughout the day and ending with the Sandhill cranes preparing for landing and landing. Don’t forget to click on the galleries to see the photos enlarged and in a slideshow.

Middle of the day

Dramatic Light

Color changes on the Sandias at sunset.

I got a quick snap of the crescent moon before the clouds swallowed her.

I was hoping for a shot of the crescent moon in the Tangle Heart Tree, but the clouds had swallowed the moon.

More drama near darkness.

Black lace trees in the yellow afterglow at dusk.

Cranes preparing to land under a fiery sky.

  1. Thanks for another great post, Tim! It’s always so impressive to see your collections of beautiful and colourful photographs.

  2. These are absolutely beautiful. photgraphs – all of them – But I especially love ‘middle of the day’ – dramatic light, crescent moon and of course the cranes ……the close up is fabulous. thank you:)

  3. What a breathtaking post, Tim. Those colours of the Sandias are absolutely stunning! Great shots of the cranes, too! So clear your crescent moon…

  4. Tim, I really enjoyed the spectrum of the mountains. The crane landing photos remind me of Concorde landings: wings stretched, head bent down a bit, gear down and ready. Nice sequences.

    • I love watching the cranes glide in al graceful-like with their landing gears down. Then they go into to panic mode just before landing. A lot of times they crash into other cranes, which ususally results in a good telling-off session and a spat. Thanks, Brad.

  5. A visual feast, Tim! Cranes, Sandis in gold, Sandias in lavender pink, black lace trees and a sliver moon. The ice storm here knocked out phone and Internet staring yesterday afternoon. Just got it back tonight. Catching up.

  6. Fantastic shots Tim, thank you!
I grabbed my tree (so magical), Tangle-Heart and 34 perfect flowers in record time.
I’m doing a collage sort of thing….. for the post. xx

    • Well. They crash into each other sometimes, followed by a lot of yelling and a bit of sparing. They always look panicked just before touchdown. Thanks, Brian.
