Hognose snakes rarely bite. They have fangs in the back of their month (rear-fanged). Their venom would feel like a bee sting. No threat to life unless you’re alergic.
I admit the baby snake is very cute. But I am simply so very much not a snake person… Even a photo sets off something that feels like it must come from deep within my DNA. Loki and Gwendolyn are much more to my liking. They actually look like they might share my reaction. LOL. 🐱 Although that really is a flattering portrait of the little guy. Hugs.
Most people have a take-flight reaction to snakes. Good reason, since a lot of snakes around the world are deadly. Around 100,000 people die of snakebite every year, especially in Africa and Asia. One study I read estimated that snake bites and related fatalities could be reduced by as much as 80% if people in rural areas wore shoes. Thanks, Teagan.
Ugh, you were on borrowed time with Linda in your previous snake post … sorry, your future snake post as I’m going back in time here — but twice in the same night. As Winston would say “you are declared excommicado” by Linda ha! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6YwM6WevRE
Hahaha! I need to watch John Wick. Bruce lent me the DVDs for 1 and 2, but I haven’t had time to watch them yet. Linda needs a little backbone when it comes to our beautiful legless friends. Thanks, Brian.
I’ll let you take that up with Linda. I am a huge fan of the Wick series, but you need to be comfortable with hundreds of people being shot in the head!
You meet the most amazing creatures, Tim. I have never heard of a hognose snake!!
Hognose snakes are really interesting. They can be drama queens. Check out this post on my T&L blog from June 2017: https://photos.tandlphotos.com/blog/2017/6/the-drama-queen. Thanks, Rebacca
Amazing pics! First time I’ve heard a snake described as “adorable”. 😁
Most baby snakes are adorable to me. Thanks, Miriam.
Finding an adorable baby hognose snake on my walk…?? No thank you… 😎
Fortunately, you would find any on your walks. Thanks, Herman.
The greens on the first pic are stunning shades.
You have the best wildlife on your walks! That snake was small, but adorable would not be my word for it.
It was so cute. Thanks, Nancy.
Is that a baby snake or is that how big they grow?
The cats look like they’re nice and comfy!
It’s a baby snake. Thanks, Becky.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen the words “adorable” and “baby snake” used in the same sentence before.
There’s a first for everything. Thanks, Brad.
Exactly what I was going to say, Brad!
Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
I enjoyed all your photo selections, Tim. The baby snake is adorable! That is a nice close up of him or her.
Thanks, Lavinia. I’m happy you see the haognose as adorable, also.
This baby snake is so sweet and looks very comfortable in your palm! Spunk is trying to imitate it in his art!
Thanks, Marina.
The bosque looks very verdant.
The hognose is adorable. Is it poisonous?
There’s a certain elegance to Spunkie=Poo’s 💋 art today.
Thanks Tim!
It is not poisonous, but is is mildy venomous. Thanks, Resa.
Mildly venomous? That sounds very snake bitey.

Interesting, thanks Tim!
I already love the cats and now I’m in ;love with the beautiful snake. Sigh. Beautiful.
Hognose snakes are cool. The are different colors in different parts of the USA. Thanks, Gigi.
I haven’t seen a snake since I was in grade school and believe me, dinosaurs were still roaming the earth. They have been gone for so very long.

Gwendolyn and Loki are gorgeous….the snake is cute::)xx
Thanks, Janet.
Jealous! After my failure to video that cobra slithering towards me in Malawi.
A cobra would be fun to get a video of, but you don’t want to be holding one. Thanks, Geoff.
What a sunset! Love your kitties Tim … no way I could pick up that snake!

From the clips the movies look like good fun. We have several Wick fans in the office. Men and women.
