Blow Me Down!

Red sky at morning. High wind warning

That saying is true for today. We still have high winds, as I type.

The irrigation ditch is dry.

A funny thing happened on the way to the blogosphere. Brad and I were discussing birds wishing paparazzi get struck by lightning. I noticed that all the irrigation ditches have had no water in them in the past few days, even though the river is running higher. The birds’ wishes missed the paparazzi and zapped the irrigation pumps instead. I got a text from the Mayorodomo that the irrigation pumps were down due to being struck by lightning.

Doesn’t take long to get dry, cracked earth in a dry and windy environment.

Nora Owl was secure in her nest, but we did not see Orsic Owl this afternoon.

Puddle ducks blown up against the bank by the high winds.

Wind making waves on the water.

  1. We are used to wind in Chicago but this is insane. Wind warning s are up all the time now. Everywhere, no matter where one lives. Too much wind, that’s for sure.

  2. Painter went over the top with the morning skies!
Rio Grande rough waters and clear blue sky make a wonderful contrast.
    Love the dragons!
    Stay in Nora Owl! 😉

    • The painter wanted to get the sky colored before the wind blew it all away. The wind blew the color away this morning. Thanks, Marina.

  3. Love that first photo of the irrigation ditch. That yellow tie really pops. Not loving that the pumps were struck by lightening, though! My goodness.

    Wonderful batch of photos.

  4. Beautiful photos, Tim. I hope Osric Owl is alright. Sorry to hear about the pumps being out due to lightning, Glad you were not the one that got struck! Very few storms go directly overhead here. Most of them are to the north or south. They can make quite a light show.

38 degrees and rain here at dawn. We might see low 50s later today.

  5. Fantastic sky views, Sir.
We’ve got different, but all the same irrigation problems lately.
I hope the owls are safe, Tim
We’ve got high winds today. Out heavy clouds are moving at a good rate, too.
    The dragon clouds are wonderful.
    Cheers, Tim.

  6. Gee, when will the pumps be fixed? That doesn’t seem good.

My tree looks quite austere in all that pink with no growth. It’s quite neat.

The owls’ cammo is mind blowing. Anyway, Nora is looking good! How far away are the owls now?

    xo

  7. Had to run and get my fix of the Fixx thanks to the Red Skies [at night] ditty running through my brain after the intro. hope your pumps get fixed soon.

    • There’s water in the ditches again. I’m waiting for the go ahead to irrigate. Thanks, Brian.
