  1. Fun post, Tim!
Okay, the cranes are gorgeous. I supposed I jumped right to Spunkie-Poo 💋. Howdare you destroy box nests? Lol.
I really like the headband w/ears. I wear ear muffs all winter, or I be sick.
It would be cool to combine the 2, muffs and ears. Step 1 – find cat print ear muffs.

I should get Jeep fresh catnip. She’s never had any. I’ll see if I can find where to get it. I don’t recall seeing it in my normal travels.

    Lacy sunset….stunning! xx

    • Spunk did not save the boxes. There will be more.

We have catnip growing on the property. During the warmer months, Laurie cut grass every morning for the cow cats to graze on in the catio. All the grasses are dry now and the birds are eating the grass seeds. There is still fresh catnip in protect spots, so Laurie’s been cutting catnip for the kitties every morning in place of grass. Spoiled cats.

Spunk kills his tail and ears every night and leaves them in different places around the house to protect us from evil spirits and such. He does his “I have a kill” yeowl and yodel while he’s carrying the tail and ears to their new destination from his toy box. It’s a game to find where he left his tail and ears during the night as Spunk gets pretty creative about where he leaves them. Last night he brought his tail to bed, laid in on me and he slept on me with his tail all night. He never got back up to get his ears.

Cat ear earmuffs are available. You would look adorable in kitty earmuffs. Thanks, Resa.

      • Lol! He kills it ever night..Spunkie-Poo 💋is sooo cute!
I’ll keep my eyes open for those muffs. I bet Walmart has them, but I won’t go anywhere major until the Black Friday (and following extended week) mobs settle down. There could be a time early Dec. , early afternoon when it’s okay, but then Christmas shopping kicks in.
Actually mid January is good. Returns are done & the stores are empty!

YES! Your cats are spoiled… but then again so is Jeep! xx

  2. A beautiful set of cranes, Tim. And of course, Spunk and kitties always a pleasure to see!

That is a very beautiful sunset composition with black lace trees and multi-level sky. The Painter did some nice work! Too bad the moon got swallowed up. Hopefully you will get a chance to see the full moon in a few days. So far the forecast up here says I will be lucky.

      • Snow lightning I have only seen a few times in my life. Have you ever photographed any?

A clear night and 21 degrees at sunrise this morning. The heavy frost is sparkling in the morning light, and looking really pretty right now. The morning’s cold may have set the dandelions back a bit and discouraged some of the tree frogs I’ve been hearing lately. The forecast is for 47 and sunny today.

        • It was “snowing lightly”, no lightning. I have never seen snow lightning. That would be something. The sun is out, so the snow won’t last long.

          • Both of you are talking about thundersnow, when lightning happens during a snowstorm. Seen this a few times. Last time, was back in April(?). You’re likely to see it more in the spring than this time of the year. It happens when there is strong convection in a snow storm. It’s very unpredictable when it happens, so waiting for it to happen then take photos/video is like watching paint dry.

            • “Lightly” auto-mistaked to “lighting” read as “lightning.” Funny what auto-mistake produces. I’ve not seen snow out of a thunderstorms down here, but we can get hail accumulations that look like there’s two or three inches of snow on the ground. Thanks, Deborah.

  3. Nice shots of the cranes. Are they migrating further south ? Here we see them also on their way to the south. Poor Spunk, he’s losing all his empty boxes !

  4. Such wonderful photos of the Sandhill Cranes! I heard and saw a string of them over the fields near our house tonight. It was my first sighting of the season. Also, a beautiful sunset photo!

  5. You are going to have some tripp’n kitties there (by the way, I think that would be an awesome all female band name). I can see Spunk with a bullhorn – “let me boxes go – power to the boxes”
