I’m going with the Sandhill Cranes today
Also because in Japan, cranes are the symbol of happiness and eternal youth
And because the blue crane is our national bird.
Your other photos are lovely too, especially the yellow of Shey’s Cottonwedge and the rising of the Rio Grande.
Wonderful photos Timothy, I think Daddy Owl actually loves the Paparazzi. The tress are glorious, Tangle Heart is thriving. Hug her for me ( come on , you can do it ) . 💞
Only yesterday I was thinking about Daddy Owl and the Owl family! Imagine my surprise seeing them today! All is well in paradise! Good to see the Rio up.
Thanks, Samantha. The owls are cool. However, while they may be wise, they are on the dummer end when it comes to bird intelligence. Great Horned Owls, like Daddy Owl, are at the top of the food chain and even Eagles are reluctant to tangle with GHOs, so they don’t need to be as bright as other birds.
Pretty much. They are a little quieter in the summer after the owlets have flown the coop, but now they are very hooty. Probably talking about nest furnishings, decorations and preparations for the next set of owlets.
Daddy owl looking confident! We have had a juvenile GH hanging in a nearby tree for the last month or so. Took us a while to figure out what it was as they do not have the typical hoot we are familiar with for GHs. Hoping it sticks around and maybe nests – must leave our poodles alone, that’s a direct order from Linda.
These shots are so beautiful. I bet the owl talks to you and knows you pretty well. They are smart and most amazing creatures. We don’t have as many pines as we were use to at home. Knowing Scott he will be getting saplings and they will be growing in the front yard. He has the greenest thumb. I honestly don’t think they would bother your animals, I think they would protect you actually – call me crazy – but that is just what I think. The colors and the tangled heart tree are something else Tim. Hugs and love to you and Linda!
#1 – The squiggly contrail is from a missile launch.
Could be. Thanks, Danzig.
An oil painting wonder!
Thanks, Inchie.
Daddy Owl looks none too pleased to see you! Sandias at Sunset does look like an oil painting.
He thought I had given up on him. But he’s been calling. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim. 😀
Wowls, cranes and my tree as well as Tbagle heart. YES!!!
I got them all worked in. Thanks, Shey.
Well done, that man actually.
What a great post, Tim. Love the squiggly contrail and of course, Shey’s tree is beautiful. We never tire of the owls and the Tangle Heart. Wonderful.
Thanks, Dale.

Thanks, abvr.
beautiful lighting and so good to see the Owls. Smart Papa owl are you Tim to find him❣️
Daddy Owl was easy to find since he was sitting on his branch hooting up a storm. Thanks, Cindy.
All among my favorite things and colors in those photos, Tim. It is good to see Daddy Owl again.
It was warm and overcast up here yesterday at 60 degrees, and this morning is 54. The seasonal pendulum has swung back to warm.
Thanks, Lavinia. It was 68 when I went out to ride yesterday and in the lower 60s when we walked out to see Daddy Owl. It was 25 this morning.
Do you sit in a valley to have it so cold in the morning?
Yes. We are in the Rio Grande Valley at 5000 feet.

In the second photo of Daddy Owl he looks happy to see me. Thanks, Holly.

The owls have been hooting up a storm, and I’ve been ignoring them. We finally got out to say hi! Thanks, Marina.
I’m so glad you did!
Beautiful photos; I love the owl, especially!!! They’re such majestic-looking creatures!

Daddy Owl! Where is he living these days?
He’s quite camouflaged in the first shot ofhim.
Gorgeous shot of the Tangle-Heart midst fall colours!
I’ll have to take this one!
xxoo
Thanks, Resa. Daddy owl and Mama Owl have been hootin’ up a storm for quite a while. I’ve been ignoring them.
Huh? What do they do all winter? Hoot?

GHOs supposedly don’t start hooting until they are around two years old. It’s funny to see and hear big owls peeping. Thanks, Brian.
