Happy Halloween

My birthday cake. Costco didn’t have any cakes with Happy Birthday!

This is a display along Corrales Road. I’m happy I got it early. The skeleton disappeared after the high winds last week.

All the cats got to try on the bat wings. Loki in photos 12 and 13 was the best batwing model. Glenda (3rd photo) and Gwendolyn (last photo) were pretty good, also. Black cats know they look good in bat wings. Spunk, on the other hand, told me exactly what he thought about wearing bat wings after I took them off him (7th photo).

  1. That is a fine birthday cake, and I love the kitties in costume. I am not surprised Spunk did not like his bat wings. 🙂 Happy Halloween to you and your family and kitties, Tim!

      • Yummy looking cake, perfect for a week long birthday celebration. Spunk by name, Spunk by nature. Thanks for the lovely Halloween scenes and patient bat cats, Timothy!

      • You are welcome, Cheyenne. The kitties were not particularly patient. But the were good kitty sports. Do people decorate for Halloween in Bisbee?

      • Some do, some don’t. Used to be Halloween parades and fire dancing. Probably happening scenes in the bars tonight. I’ll be picking up the empties in front of the gallery tomorrow.

  2. That’s the problem with having a birthday so close to Hallowe’en 🙂 My youngest knows all too well.
As for your bat cats… amazing that you got them all to try them on!

    • What’s amazing is I got the wings on all of them and lived to post the photos. Halloween is not as much of a problem for me as my friend’s birthday, which is today. I think it’s less of a problem than having a birthday close to Christmas.

  3. Marble is the clear winner to me. My “buddy”, Lefty, bit me last night in the Halloween spirit. Didn’t WANT to go out the cat door or get picked up.
All this warm, mild weather feels wrong. It’s too pretty.

  4. Spunk’s got spunk lol. Your cats are such cutieees. What wonderful Halloween decorations! 😀 Does look really sophisticated and fun.
That cake looks nom- I’m guessing it’s a waffle cake?

    • Chocolate tuxedo cake with mousse filling. Do you do things for Halloween in your part of the world? Thanks, Sam.

      • Yumm! 🤤
Actually, not really. Not too extravagantly. Some people do celebrate Halloween here but I can’t think it’s anything like how it is in the West. In gated communities though, a big yess! Also, our biggest festival (Diwali) is around this time, so we’re usually busy with preparations for that. It’s the most happening (and busy) time of the year for us.

      • Diwali is probably much more sensible. People have go nuts about Halloween over here. I don’t get it. But then again, I’m a Halloween Scrooge or Grinch or Curmudgeon or all three.

      • Lol I had to Google those words and the definitions gave me a chuckle 😄 I totally get what you mean. I think it’s fun but also too silly.

      • You have not read “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens? Or “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” by Dr. Suess?

  5. The kitties look like they’re all ready for Halloween. Too too cute. Thanks for sharing Tim😊

  6. Great Halloween pictures, Timothy. Your cat pictures reminded me of this quote from Alice In Wonderland: “And here Alice began to get rather sleepy, and went on saying to herself, in a dreamy sort of way, ‘Do cats eat bats? … and sometimes, ‘Do bats eat cats?’ for, you see, as she couldn’t answer either question, it didn’t much matter which way she put it.”

  7. Love this post and the beautiful photographs! And obviously, there’s that delicious looking cake too…

    • That cake is great with espresso. You would love it. We need that transporter. “Beam Herman a piece of cake so he can eat it too!” “Eye Eye captain. Eye see!” Thanks, Herman

  8. Ahh… your paradise just got wonderfully spooky! Shame about the skeleton!
Okay, Costco has got to get their act right. Next year they should have a “Happy Birthday, Tim” cake!
On the bat models I think Glenda, Gwendolyn and Loki wear them beautifully! 😉
    Happy Hallowe’en!!!!!!

      • Wellway back I first of all would doa spooky supper with my own kids and then for even more years I ran a Halloween bash mainly for pupils. Every year I had a different theme and then all told about 70 would come guising over the course of the evening. Then we moved here and no-one can find our house and i like it that way! Also even if they did, the gate is at the end of a long spooky path! BUT my younger girl decided at the last rather than coming along with her two and cos her oldest boy was wanting something and well…there’s a baby now so she didn’t want a houseful, to have us along and our other daughter and her hubby with their wee girl. So we had a crazy time doing all the traditional things for a few hours. The kids had a great time. It was nice.

      • Happy you had a good time. Our property is lonely, dark, scary and full of ghosts and monsters. Therefore, no sane children dare come around trick or treating. Haven’t ever had a trick or treater out here. One year when we lived in town, we figured we would have lots of kids coming by since there were lots of families with kids in the neighborhood. We bought a bunch of candy. Not a kid showed up. They all went to the wealthier neighborhoods to scam candy. I was rather miffed.

      • They did not know what they were missing! Apart from our own grandies, we have only had two sisters come by and they live two doors along. Actually one was a music pupil at that point. I only took her on here cos they were neighbors as I wound the biz down when we moved back here, the other sister was in p1 with our oldest grandie at the time so he was with them. Where we lived before was a much smaller community and the kids all went out on Halloween. If you went out to the shops or that it was like something out a film. And the kids knocked on all the doors which was why I thought, it is too disruptive of lessons so i need to doa welcome in instead. My younger girl took the oldest grandie over to a party there yesterday—the girls still have friends there– and she said again the streets were full and the kids from the party all went out guising too as part of the party despite the bucketting rain. It is just very different here.

  9. Really fun to see the Halloween scenes here, Timothy. The nighttime decorations are great, and the cats with the bat wings are terrific. Made me chuckle. And Happy Birthday!

  10. That birthday cake looks scrumptious! Happy Belated Birthday!
Loved all the Halloween decorations but that Cat Bats were the best!
Happy Halloween! Hope it will be purrrfect!

  11. Oh, the absolute horror for the kitties having to wear a costume. Okay to have a Halloween cake than to have no cake at all. I would have loved to see a flying skeleton – there’s always next year. I’ve seen a flying Santa before, but you expect to see a flying Santa. 🙂

    • I wasn’t around when the skeleton took flight. Been there done that on flying Santas. Thanks, David.

  12. I really got a good laugh as I looked at your cats, Tim. Some of them were really not happy what you did to them. Cats with bat wings. Really? I also wish you a very happy birthday! Very cool night shots which I did enjoy! Thank you!

  13. A great post and you didn’t disappoint.. I was like “wait, Timothy has to have a halloween post up and a Halloween b.d. cake no less.. hahaha 🎃 Now we’re talking but where’s the song. Made up with great pictures and those adorable models of yours competing for the prize of tuna temptations. I found my missing Star 2 years ago today.. I almost posted about her.. she is my black cat you’ve seen I’m sure. 🎃🎃👻

    • No Halloween song. That would be too much work right now. But the kitties did their part. You have a white cat, also if I remember correctly.

  14. C’mon Spunk, you need to get in the holiday spirit! I swear Home Depot must have made a killing on their 12′ Skeleton – everyone seems to have one of those these days (although, ironically not me…but I have a friend who will let me use his next year – yeah, no storage hassle). Note, I think the 11th image cat worked it the best ha.

    • My infinite shed of doom is still full of stuff from our downtown office. I don’t know where I would put a 12′ skeleton unless I left it set up year around like I do Christmas lights in the house. They make goo atmosphere colors.

  15. OMG! Spunkie-Poo 💋 is a riot telling you off!
I gotta say he looks simply marvellous in his wings, as do all the kitties.
That roadside display is lots of fun, as is your birthday cake.
At least the Happy part is right on!
Did you eat the Happy, or the Halloween?

  16. Oh now you have got me craving sugar. We are trying to lose our last lbs we gained from the COVID and my baking. That looks wonderful, yummy. Wow you went all out with the decorations, looks great. Your cats are so cute, yep the black cats knew exactly what they were doing. I must tell you though Tim they don’t look too scary they are just adorable.
