The Wilds

Wild moon

Saturn & Jupiter in the Tangle Heart Tree. I had to get way back into the wilds of the dark bosque with coyotes and chupacabras nipping at my heels to get the shot.

I made my way back onto the levy at the same time as the coyotes.

There were two of them and they paid little attention to me even though we were close to each other. After I lightened up the photo, I could see the coyote on the left had a bad case of mange.

I started walking towards the coyotes. They took one last look before they scurried into the bosque.

Crow flying under the quarter moon.

Saturn and Jupiter through the trees. They are supposed to conjoin in three days.

  1. What a *wild* journey from start to finish! I have never seen the wisps of light that you captured in the first image, that is beautiful.

    • Thanks, Mia. Parks? I’m not sure who you have in mind. The Conservancy governs the bosque, ditches and rivers, but they don’t care anything about wildlife. The New Mexico State Game & Fish stock the clear water ditch with Trout, but other than stocking the ditch, G&F don’t do anything else with the bosque or river. The wildlife is pretty much on their own. Does that answer your question?

  2. I enjoyed all the photos, Tim, especially the moon’s wild ride!

We had reasonably partly cloudy skies all day. I saw the crescent moon after sundown, but a bank of clouds moved in quickly and obliterated any sign of moon, stars and planets. It’s raining again, and the wind has picked up.

    • Thanks, Gabriela. Are you and Maya getting ready for the holidays? Are you getting around better on your ankle?

      • My pleasure Timothy. We are but this year it is what it is. I am doing much better, thank you for asking. The doctor was very pleased two days ago. However I twisted again my ankle today and it does not look too good. II hope I will feel better tomorrow. Love the pictures. This conjunction is historical. I read somewhere- I hope I am not mistaken – that a similar one last took place in 1403. Hope everyone is ok. Maya sends kisses.

        • You should only be doing more twists in your poetry and short stories, not your ankle. Tsk! I read the last conjunction that was similar to this one was in the year 1220. There was a closer conjunction in 1623, but it was too close to the sun to be visible. In 7 BCE there was a triple conjunction between Saturn, Jupiter and Mars that could account for the Star of Bethlehem.

The kittens have figured out the cat door to the rest of the house and are making excursions into the hall and towards the dance room. They send you healing purrs, and Maya kitty kisses. Kisses for you too.

  3. Very cool shots! I was out last night taking pictures in the back yard of the planets. All I had were a few leaves tickling my heels…
Nice shots and walk… Happy Weekend!

  4. Ohhh, the poor mangy coyote.
It breaks my heart when I see animals with mange.
The moon shot is very creative, and the entire post is a nature lover’s delight.
That moon & crow is outstanding, Tim.
