This summer was less dry and hot as the two years before, but had its hot peak temperatures, people and nature are not used around here. Luckily there was enough rain (elsewhere in Germany, Austria and Switzerland too many) instead of drought this summer.
I guess, your hot period is lasting longer than around here. Usually, with the beginning of September we are done with it. The shorter hot season was one of the reasons, why we moved from the hotter area in the east of Austria near Hungary back north.
A beautiful slice of life in Nature, Tim. Your Painter has created some magnificent clouds, and that striking moth looks like what we call a hummingbird moth up here. Hummingbird and lizard beautiful captures, too.
Handsome Silver is looking pleased with himself, and that exercise wheel looks like it has become a good napping spot for lovable characters like Spunk. Do the cats use the wheel for running?
No running on the wheel yet. It’s a little too hot. They do love napping on it. The moth is a Rustic Sphinx Moth (Manduca rustica), a black and white hummingbird moth. Thanks, Lavinia.
Hahaha! Silverdough bread. Take & Bake sourdough bread is really good. It’s pre-baked and vacuum-sealed. You reheat for 8 minutes, and you have fresh sourdough bread. Do you eat sourdough bread? My mom had a sourdough starter that had been handed down and kept going for over 100 years. She used to make a lot of sourdough bread and sourdough pancakes. Thanks, JYP.
Your mom’s sourdough starter is really impressive! I eat sourdough bread, but it’s not something I would have the expertise and patience to make myself and it’s not a big thing near me. I don’t think I’ve seen take & bake sourdough in the grocery stores either.
I get Take & Bake at Costco. I’ve never seen it in a grocery store, either. Sourdough is pretty much the only white bread we eat. Sourdough has white bread privilege at our house. Otherwise, we eat those lowly multigrain breads.
We buy multigrain bread from the grocery store, and bagels and challah (and sometimes rye bread) from the bakery. Bread privilege, what is the world coming to?
Silver looks horrified. How funny Tim. I have seen those moths before and they are huge. A great photo of the hummingbird resting. I always love the photo of your land Tim, it is just so beautiful and natural there too. An added bit of beautiful flowers in their glorious colors. So fun to visit here. By the way, I hope that you were happy with the way your vision was after your surgery?
My eyes are good, but I’m still trying to get a correct glasses prescription after the surgery. The doctor entered the wrong numbers for the prescription, and it took a while to get a new appointment to recheck my eyes.
Cool moth! Like the birds here, the big moths have been absent this summer. One Luna Moth came by for a visit, but that’s it. Silver looks terrified, maybe an Alice concert with cheer him up … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZymxTzKxJhU
Silver loves Alice Cooper. Similar show to what I saw last October. The drummer was phenomenal, but he gets overshadowed by Nita because she is so cute. We have had quite a few moths this summer. Thanks, Brian.
Beautiful
Thanks, vermavkv.
Welcome sir.
Beautiful. The moth is gorgeous.
Thanks, Gigi. It’s the same type of moth as in this post: https://wp.me/p1yQyy-9G6. You can see how big it is on my hand.
Wow…that is a huge moth (and I got to see Spunk and his wings again. ❤️
They are big moths. Spunk is such a character. He was running around the house playing with the ghosts this morning.
That expression!!
Silver really didn’t want to be baked. Thanks, Leenda.
Looks like hot summer. Ours seems to be ready with baking and cooling down.
We have not had a very hot summer. And the thunderstorms in the afternoon cool us down quickly. Thanks, Heidi.

We have had more rain this summer but are still in a severe drought.

Fabulous
Thanks, Janet.
Great photos! Thanks for sharing. Kind regards…Jay😊
Thanks, Jay.
No baking the kitty!
That hummingbird perching while getting nectar is a smart one.
It is a smart hummer. Thanks, Nancy.
Great mix of pix. I sighed and I laughed so there you go.
At least you didn’t cry. Thanks, Shey.
ALways look on the bright side.
Not always, but I try.
I think we are all like that.

The Painter makes some beautifully colored moths.
You might remember this post from last year: https://wp.me/p1yQyy-9G6
Thanks for the link. I do now! And Spunk with his equinox wings, too.
These are the characters I see here.

Those are similar but quite different from the sphinx moths.
Wow to those skies and those Eyes…. say it all.. 🙂 xx
Thanks, Sue.
An artistically decorated moth, wow!
Thanks, Michele.
I couldn’t pick a favourite this time, Tim. Everyone a gem!
Thanks, Inchie.
👍🏻
great photos, Tim: those cats: they should have their own TV show 🙂 or YouTube channel 🙂
Love the lizard…..nice composition.
Thanks, Geoff.
Lovely pictures. I especially like the lizard.
Thanks, Roberta.
Ha, ha he would never! but I bet they love the boxes!💗
Thanks, Cindy.
❤️❤️
Silverdough bread vs. sourdough bread? I agree with Silver that sourdough bread sounds preferrable. How was the take & bake sourdough?

Sad state the world is in.
Silver and Spunk steal the show … Mind you that last shot is amazing
They tend to do that.
Egads, that is a big moth.
Silver is adorable, and so is Spunkie-Poo💋. Seeing him like that makes it hard to believe he can be a bad boy.
Thanks for all the neat pics, Tim! x
Spunk knows how to look sweet even when he’s being rotten. Thanks, Resa.
Hahaha! Now that’s talent.

Silver kneads the dough
to buy a Stairmaster! 😎
( not saying Silver
is a fat cat … but 😺 )
He is on the larger side of life. He has a cat wheel he needs to learn to run on. Thanks, David.
My Burmese cat, Lobsang, uses
a Buddhist prayer wheel to keep
thin. It’s a cultural thing 😺🕉️
You can’t argue with kitty culture.

Oh, no, Silver!!
Poor kitty. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome,Tim.
