The sky cleared up quickly yesterday afternoon, so I got to see the sliver moon after all.
While riding my bike this afternoon, I stopped and moved a Hognose snake off the road. I didn’t bother to photograph it. If I had, I would have been obliged to post photos of it, but since I had a very unpaparazzo moment and moved the snake without making it pose for photos, Linda and Herman lucked out.

One of our orchids bloomed. It is not common for us to have orchids rebloom.

Funny you should share a re-blooming orchid when I was just looking at my two failures, trying to decide if I just put them out of their misery or give them another chance.
Spunk looks muy cool there!
We are usually in your shoes when it comes to getting orchids to rebloom. Spunk enjoyed his nap. Thanks, Dale
Then all the more impressive!
And surprising.
I bet!
Let it go. As I commented below, store orchids are a hybrid that isn’t meant to re-bloom. If you want a shot at perpetual orchids, you usually need to get them from a specialty nursery.
Thanks!
Thank you for removing all guilt on my part!! Consider it gone! 🙂
I used to feel bad too, esp because my mother raised orchids. Learning this info was a big relief for me!! And it makes sense… they’re far heartier than long lasting orchids and the short life encourages more sales!
Jeez. No kidding! I was all excited when new leaves formed… then nothing. They are officially kicked to the curb!
Guit free. Yeah!
Woot!
great snaps, Tim: I must try napping in the shade of a trumpet vine; it looks cool 🙂
Spunk recommends it. Thanks, John.
What a cute name Spunk is! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks, CP.
Re the orchids, the ones sold at stores are hybrid to be hearty only bloom once. Getting a 2nd bloom is a big accomplishment!!!
Thanks, Leenda.
The cats look fat and happy, Tim. Love the Howlin’ Thuggin Juggers!
We had an orange -tinged sunrise and sunset today, a faint whiff of smoke in the. The Oregon fire and hotspot dashboard shows about 11 small fires (100 acres or less) burning around the state right now, the closest being southeast of Springfield. That could be tainting the skies, along with agricultural dust.
I have checked file maps for NM lately. Thanks, Lavinia.
Like always, I enjoy the way, the images follow their connected ways in colours and curves, so there is a hidden snake in this. 🙂
Shhh! Don’t tell Linda and Herman there is a hidden snake. Thanks, Heidi.
🤫
Hahaha… thank goodness I don’t get to see a snake in the morning while having my first espresso…
I thought you might appreciate a snake-free espresso. Thanks, Herman.
Awfie bonnie
Thanks, Shey.
An early morning snake…guaranteed to wake you up:).
The photograph of Spunk is simply gorgeous and I concur with Gwendolyn…I love cardboard. I gesso it on both sides and use it as a superb painting support. Enjoy the day….
The inner cat in you. Thanks, Janet.
:):)
…and that’s how a day begins beautifully!
Lucky Linda!
She is lucky. Thanks, Marina.
These pictures and quotes had me smiling. thanks Tim.
You’re welcome, Inchie.
👍
I love the red orchid! I don’t think I’ve seen an orchid that color before.
It is an interesting color. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
Wow! I’ve never had an orchid bloom, except for the blooms it comes with.
Gwendolyn and Spunkie-Poo 💋 had a good day!
Beautiful shots, especially without the snake! xx
The bloom was surprising. Thanks, Resa.
“…shadow jugging…” 😀
So happy you moved the snake. My son spent an hour using oil to unstick a snake from one of those evil rodent glue traps. He believes the snake knew he was helping it. It slithered all around his arms when it was free, as if to say, “Thank you.” He then placed it in a lidded bowl and drove it to the woods. Snake savers rock!
That was great your son got the snake off the glue trap. Those things are horrible. Thanks, Dawn.
gorgeous orchid Tim and we can always count on you to move the snake.. xo👏💗
I’m a mover when it comes to snakes. Thanks, Cindy.
and let’s not forget and a shaker, Tim🤗
A whole lotta shakin’ going on.
Spunk looks particularly happy … nap time!
He was. Thanks, Julie,
Linda is very appreciative you didn’t get any photos of the Hognose – she is a bit concerned that you let one go and thus can make its way all the way up here. Love the SP reference ha.
Western Hognoses won’t head east. The kitties like SP, too. Thanks, Brian.
