Another 24 hours, and there is still snow on the west face of the Sandias.

Sad news! The Tangle Heart Tree took a tumble.

Snow on the mountains, dry as a bone in the valley, the Tangle Heart Tree that succumbed to the drought in 2011, has fallen over.

Late afternoon
Oh nooooooo! Not the Tangle Heart!
The Sandias are beautiful and the kitties adorable…
We were expecting it to snap off in the high winds instead of falling over into the other trees. Thanks, Dale.
Oh man…
Sigh! It was bound to happen one day.
The Tangle-Heart was special. Always will be.
We have lots of pics! xx
Mia’s tree, the tree that started it all, fell over a couple of years ago, and now the THT. The drought has tanken it’s toll. Thanks, Resa.
Ohh, the drought! Yikes! xx
I am sorry such a beautiful, grand old tree died. I agree, it was a special tree and will live on in your photo collection.
It was going to happen sooner or later. Thanks, Lavinia.
I’ll miss that Tangle Heart Tree, Tim: it was a recurring character in your posts —
Yep. It’s been a staple. Thanks, John.
Great collection of images Tim, especially the first and last ones. Sorry to hear about your tree and drought. We were having a drought until this last week, with 4 days constant rain and flooding.
Thanks, Brad.
That is very sad news. Such an eloquent tree.
It was. Thanks, Couriers.
Oh not that beautiful tree……
Yes. So sad. Thanks, Shey.
It is sad.
This is horrible news, Timothy!
It is horrible. Thanks, Martina.
Let’s try to not give up hope that we can change things!
I’m so sorry.
Thanks, Gigi.
Oh, no, not the Tangle Heart Tree!
Yes. So sad. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
The Tangled Heart Tree 😢
Yikes the desert looks as dry as my skin in the winter!
The Sandias looks beautiful!
Super cute cats!
Valley
Thank, Rebecca.
Oh no! Indeed sad, that is a cool old tangled tree.
it was iconic. Thanks, Tiffany.
Beautiful shots Timothy!
Thanks, Sylvia.
Also, even though the beautiful tree is gone, you have documented it well and so it lives forever.
Thanks, Sylvia.
oh NO!!!!!! I’m so sorry for you, Holly and all of us! You couldn’t pretend to replicate it or could you? 😥
I don’t think so. Thanks, Cindy.
We’ve had hardly any rain for at least a year, and if we don’t get the monsoons this summer, it’s going to be terrible. I spent a fortune on water last year, but I’m not doing it this year. I’m not going to plant anything new.
Good thinking. it’s tough. Thanks, Dawn.
Oh no! Well kt’s definitely tangled up into the other trees now. I am sad. 😞
*it’s not kt’s
Thanks, Nancy.
I am saddened to read this. Perhaps something can be constructed with it, the world-renowned heart shape segments of it. Your cats’ eyes are so beautiful.
It’s not on my property. I can’t do anything with it. Thanks, Dawn.
Oh, no! Not the THT! It’s sad to see it taking a tumble. Where will the Moon find shelter!
The owls and pTerodactyl loved perching on the THT. Thanks, Marina.
That is sad — everyone loved that tree. Plus, it’s such hard work clearing a fallen tree… Take care.
Thanks, Teagan.
Tim, I am so sorry to see that this beautiful tree fell over. I loved looking at her in the sunlight, moonlight and just alongside the other trees plus I am aware of the sentimental value as well.
We, too, lost trees. We lost at least four fifty-foot-plus trees on our land. We have additionally multiple trees just as big stuck on other trees like your beautiful tangled heart three. I am very sorry. I know how it feels. We have not been here long enough to have the kind of attachment that you have for your trees there. However, after we moved, the people who moved in cut down the seventeen-year-old crepe myrtles, some as tall as thirty feet, whose bark was magically gorgeous. These trees lined both sides of the driveway and were beautiful. I cried when I saw a photograph that a neighbor sent and my husband was depressed for days. They also destroyed the Monarch and bee garden. What is wrong with people?
I am truly sorry Tim. Nature is out of whack and it was water and ice that took our trees down.
The wave of change moves forward, leaving many memories ~ and that is a beautiful thing we can treasure, along with your iconic and heart-filled photos of the magical “The Tangle Heart Tree.” This would make for one of those great, sad, but inspiring country-folk songs. All our hearts are tangled by this news.
Thanks, Randall. I may just write that song. I wrote a country song from a post by a blogger in Toronto who wrote about the Cyber Trucks that got stuck in the huge snowstorm they got a month or so ago: https://soundcloud.com/user-334086053/stuck-cyber-truck
Oh that’s terrible news …sorry to hear that! Loving those skies with cloud puffs and of course those beautiful kitties
It’s really sad. Thanks, Julie.
The tree has fallen, long live the tangle heart tree!
Only the good trees die young. Thanks, Brian.
