Wañusqakunamanta*
By Timothy Price
Sacrificed
To the gods
Drown in the madness of his name
Smell of the dead
And their sins
Of the dead and their sins
Of the dead and their sins
Take me, take me on a boat to see Arkos
I can’t feel the sea on Arkos
Embrace the truth
And shake us free
Make us free to rise in the end
Meet a person
Of great heart
In custody to persevere
But the devil’s in the way
Yes, the devil’s in the way
Why’s the devil’s in the way
He digs down to the core
To the flesh
And
To the bones

V for Venus

Cranes couldn’t care less

Osric Owl doesn’t give a hoot

Sandias @ the Beach
*Wañusqakunamanta is “Of the Dead” in Quechua. I have been working on the song for a long time. Originally named Weird DST, I wrote the song intending to use it for my 2024 Daylight Savings Time protest song. The idea behind the asynchronization between the metered drums and bass and the unmetered guitar was to simultaneously feel in and out of time. I tried to make the lyrics as strange as the music. I didn’t post it on DST this year because I didn’t finish it in time for the time change. Given the state of the election, I took another look at the song and decided I might as well use it to make a statement about the 2024 election.
I think it’s a fine song to express how I feel about the state of this election!
Thanks, Susan. I’m happy it resonated with you.
Hopefully, our national nightmare is almost over.
I’m not very optimistic. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim. I expect tomorrow to be a very rough day.
I think you are right about that.
Love your photos!!! We are watching from our side of the border!!!
We’ll see what happens. Thanks, Rebecca.
The music is hypnotic, Tim.
Excellent song and video! But, I’m terrified. How will I ever sleep again?
I best try laying on the bed and see if it still works.
(Love the music) xx
Thanks, Resa. A lot of us are terrified. Spunk and I are off to bed to see if we can sleep.
Don’t worry Tim! If worse comes to worse, Spunkie-Poo 💋 will protect you!
Just remove his collar and set hime free!
Says it all.
Thanks, Gigi.
It’s good to try, every effort helps to make it better. Well done.
Thanks, R Vedansh.
Very interesting song, I needed a second espresso afterwards… I don’t know why, but your ‘experimental’ songs always make me think of Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa.
We switch to DST last week. I used to post about how much I hate this but I decided to give up…
I’ll try to do a new DST song next year. I’ll see if I come up with anything. Thanks, Herman.
Very sad to say that we can’t raise any sound on the video. It’s a great shame as the video is wonderful.
That’s weird. Too bad. See if you can listen to the music at https://soundcloud.com/user-334086053/wan-usqakunamanta/s-UOKXvUE7zW5
Excellent post TImothy. It said warning disturbing conent on he vid so obvi I clicked it…..
Of course. Thanks, Shey.
Creative and clever video and connection to our dystopian world of politics.
Absolutely. We have a sad state of politics. Thanks, Brad.
Very creative!
Thanks, Dawn.
You have described this time very well. I can’t wait for this to be over… but will it? ?
Thanks, Nancy. No matter the outcome, I expect mayhem after the election. I hope I’m wrong.
I hear ya!
Love the song and video, Tim. Seems to me, only animals get it! 😉
So true. Thanks, Marina.
very strange but oddly engaging; I so enjoyed the photos and their clever, chortling captions 🙂
Thanks, John.
Yes, disturbing video but well done, Tim. I can’t say I “like” it, but I do appreciate the thought and skill you have put into it I remember the Vietnam War, and seeing footage of the farmers out working their fields no matter what was going on between one side and the other. One has to eat and feed the family. Life continues in some fashion, as best it can. You are right, the cranes and creatures of the Bosque care not. The Sandias, majestic silent sentinels of what transpires below throughout the ages.
Thanks, Lavinia. I would be surprised if you liked the song and video. Both are weird, but DST and election cycles are as well. Now that we are back on MST, the kitties wake me up at 4:30 to feed them because it’s 5:30 on their clocks.
Same with kitties here. 🙂
Oooh, this is one creepy song, Timothy. The photographs are gorgeous.
It is a creepy song. It goes well with our creepy election. Thanks, Robbie.
Yes ❤️🔥
Excellent, perfect timing.
Thanks, Gigi.
Startling, rather unsettling, but evocative and very well done. Just as a statement song should be, Tim.
There have been several times since 2016 when I’ve had discussions with people about how awful things are and how much more terrible it might get, discussions where we were in firm agreement — only to find that to my horror we were each talking about the other’s team. So, I’m never sure whose devil is the topic anymore.
It really was a creepy election, as you said in the reply to Robbie. Hugs.
That’s often the case, but at least you agreed on things you disagreed with. Politics is a religion for many people. I’m guessing that people who don’t have many creative ambitions seek things to follow religiously. This differs from talented people who work religiously at their arts and skills and become very good at them. The creepy song meant for DST worked just as well for the creepy election.
Yes, it worked perfectly.
I was just listening to St Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion). Don’t know why I’m sharing that. Velma is still on DST, and demanding attention.
Our cats are still on DST. They wake me up at 4:30 to feed them.
From the safety of distance
(10,741 miles away), I’m with
the cranes. They can always
fly away and watch the Zombie
Apocalypse on TV 😱
Enjoy watching from afar! Thanks, David.
Don’t harm the stuff bears!! Kinda has that Sabbath feel to it.
Just plain weird if you ask me. Thanks, Brian.
