Another Great Standoff

Mostly blue skies all day.

“Put down that camera and top off the jug, Paparazzo!”

The great jug standoff.

I thought this was a cute little Tit, but my Bird ID said it’s a Canyon Towhee.

“I see you don’t know your Tits from a Towhee! Stupid Paparazzo!”

“It’s like, Duh!”

Plum blossoms.

Honeybee on plum blossoms

One of many tree roots of all evil lying in wait to trip people running in the bosque was calling Brian’s name. “¿Dónde está Brian? ¡Ven y tropieza conmigo!”

  1. Several winters ago I had a pair of Canyon Towhees nesting in my firewood. They looked-to me- more like fat sparrows than our more commonly seen towhee. I became fond of them.

    • The Canyon Towhees do not look like the Spotted Towhees. Threw me for a loop. I’ve been seeing a lot of Flickers, but I haven’t gotten a good shot of one this year.

    • Fortunately, I have not been tripped up by any tree roots of all evil, but Laurie has, and they are really out to get Brian. I think he scared one with his Halloween Trail once, and now they are all out to get him. Tree roots of all evil never forget. Brian is an ultra-marathon runner, birder, blogger, dogger, and Halloween aficionado.

  2. Thanks Tim! The Towhee is adorable, and the plum blossoms are gorgeous.
However the stand off is hysterical, and the “root of all evil” is 10 & 1/2 big chuckles. I sure needed a laugh!
What the heck is in that jug? xx

    • I’m happy you got a laugh to start your week. The jug has water. We keep filled jugs to water plants with. The cats started drinking out of the jugs, so we had to start leaving a jug filled with water on the table for them to drink from (that is besides their water fountain and water bowls). We top it off, they lap water and we top it off again. I think it’s as much getting extra attention from us as quenching thirst. Check out this cute GIF of Spunk jugging: https://wp.me/p1yQyy-3U1. Thanks, Resa.

  3. It’s delightful to see the kitties squared off and I adore Towhees, adorable little birds. A gorgeous sky and view out there.Wonderful photos Timothy. Thank you so much

  4. Spring in the bosque is looking beautiful, Tim. Grey skies, wind and rain forecast here for today.

I guess you could say the cats formed a Jug band. 🙂

        • As weird as I am, I’s either not weird enough or too weird for the Tate. Speaking of Tates, the Tate brothers, who I had not heard of until I read about their arrest in Romania on a warrant from the UK. I guess I’m way out of the mainstream, because the article said in would be hard not to know their names. Thanks, Inchie.

          • It’s the Tates loss… but they are not interested in real artwork. Humph!
I had to look up the Taste Brothers on Google, Tim. Proper villains. Read in the Guardian pages where there lawyers are confident that they will not be found guilty at the trial? If the non-sweating nonce Prince Andrew can get away with it, they may well. Re Andy-Andy, if he denies everything and refuses to meet with the FBI, then pays a victim compensation worth £12 million ($16.3 million), how can he be innocent? He’s destroyed the Royal Families reputation. Sorry, I got carried away there.
            Cheers, Sir.

    • I’m happy you got a laugh out of them. I think Resa was the only other person that got a laugh. Thanks, Cindy.

  5. OMG!!! Now that is the mother of TRoAEs – that is going to give me nightmares for the next week and can already feel my elbow throbbing in retaliation. Those two kitties are definitely giving you the look, but it’s the one in the back casting shade that I would worry about. I can confirm that is a Canyon Towhee, although I do like calling out the Tits and Peckers in the field hehehehe. Now I must get off this post before the nightmares set in.

    • That is a mother load of a TRoAE. Sorry to give you nightmares. We have lots of tits and peckers around, and pussies, needles to say. Thanks, Brian.
