We used to ride the tram up and cross country ski. We rode up and cross country skied at night with headlamps. Or under the light of the moon when it was bright enough.
Looks like the owls have spotted you. They are a beautiful pair. The Sandhill Cranes are putting on quite a show. I can imagine that they liven up the area while they are there.
I had to get the owl’s attention so she would look at me. Daddy owl ignored me. The cranes do liven things up and they make a lot of noise. Thanks, Rebecca.
I was sure it was her featherdo till I read about the branch!
Antennas and trees catching snow is such a beautiful view.
As for the cranes… I’d be hoppin’ mad being there!
How very civilized of them to queue up rather than have a group brawl.
Love how Mrs. Owl looks like she has a new ‘do!
Love the snowy photo – It has a sort of futuristic look to it.
Nothing good comes from spatting Cranes – two get into it, then a brother of one jumps in, then the sisters of the other one jumps on their backs which brings out the mothers who start grabbing and pulling their feathers to get them off before long all hell breaks loose and it’s a flock free for all. Perfect alignment on that V shaped stick, I had to go back and look at it closer.
Prefect description of a crane crackup. When I saw the new V on the owl through the view finder (it was too dark to see with the naked eye), I thought Daddy Owl found a girlfriend, but when I zoomed in on the screen I could see it was a branch. Thanks, Brian.
Nice cranes and owls. I’ve skiied up there.
That was a long time ago. I think ski area has be closed since the end of last century. Thanks, Brad.
It’s been over 30 years since we were up there.
About right. There was snow 30 years ago.
I’ll be. Sandia Ski Area opened today with a 6″ base.
Been there too! Gondola ride up, ski down the other side.

These are so many varieties of birds. Anita
Lots of variety of birds in these parts. Thanks, Anita.
I particularly like hoppin mad…… full of. movement.
Thanks, Janet. The cranes were animated last night.

The images are beautiful, Tim, and I am glad to see the owls again! When do they start nest selection?
Thanks, Lavinia. We have about 2 inches of snow this morning.
30 degrees at dawn today, but it is a dry day. It is supposed to hit 54 degrees here this afternoon.
We hit 63 degrees!
We hit 39 yesterday.

You would love the CCOC (Cranes, Coyotes, Owls, Crows). Thanks, Marina.
I know I would!
The two owls are looking quite imposing.
They make there presence known. Thanks, Liz.
Hi our Owls!!! we’re glad to see you together agin. you’re busy with wild life, Tim❣️
It’s a wild wild life around here. Thanks. Cindy.
It sure is, Tim.. glad to share your world vicariously💕

Thanks, JYP.

The owls are fabulous.
Tim, I’m always alarmed when I see a shot with all those towers on the Sandias. Here with the snow, it’s another planet.
Those tower are part of the mountains now. Thanks, Resa.
Sigh, yes! Here to stay.
The towers have been there for a long time.
