Frosted Flake

Venus, the Moon, and I rose at the same time this morning.

Twenty-four degrees
I stood out in my skivvies
Like a frosted flake

Venus and the Moon shapeshifted through the glass.

The various crescents are moonlight fractured by condensation on the glass. Venus made some mean-looking faces.

Back to normal

Venus and the Moon at dawn.

Lower left to top: Orion, Kiss Flying-V, and The Pleiades. Top right: Jupiter.

Brad mentioned seeing The Pleiades in yesterday’s photo meant Orion was not far behind. I’ve taken many photos with Orion in them recently, but I haven’t posted Orion in a while.

  1. Beautiful images, Tim, especially the golden glow of dawn. Condensation makes for some interesting patterns, too. Beautiful crescent moon. Glad you are getting to see it.

24 degrees? Clear night down your way. Right on 50 up here this morning, the rain still a tumbling down. It’s a long haul rain out there. The pasture several properties down has an even bigger pond now, and growing. Their sheep will be swimming by tomorrow.

    • Clear and cold here. 12 degrees this morning. I just got back from a cool ride at 44 degrees. The sun felt warm on my black thermal bike clothes, but the wind was cold. Thanks, Lavinia.

  2. Out in your skivvies in 24 degrees? Are you in training to become a Canadian?
Love how you captured Venus through the glass. It’s those things we happen to see as we walk by and then decide to take a closer look that become some of the most interesting subjects. So cool.

    • I could see any of Red Green’s groupies out in their skivvies doing something manly. It’s always nice to find interesting forms in the glass. Thanks, Dale.

  3. Ahh, so you’re the frosted flake!
I was wondering how you knew Bruise McMellon?
Love, love the art shots through the frosted window. xx

  4. Orion is one of my favorite constellations – easily distinguishable and prevalent in our country skies. I like the easy to identify ones, like the Dippers and Cassiopeia.

    • We have our own names for constellations. Like The Kiss Flying-V, The Yak, and Chupacabra. Thanks, Brian.
