While I was standing on the sidewalk in front of the office talking to Jim, he noticed a moth on the front door. I picked it up and it sat on my arm fluttering its wings really fast. I did photos of the moth. In “Live View”, the wings fluttered in slow motion. I converted the “Live View” photos to gifs and then to video and put the above video together with guitar accompaniment. After the moth futtered on my arm for about a minute, it flew over to the wall by the door.
“Up against the wall you red neck…” Mothra†
†Mothra is a fictional monster that first appeared in the 1961 film Mothra, produced and distributed by Toho Studios. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mothra to learn more.
Cool music, a nice looking moth!
It was a really pretty moth. Thanks, John.
Sci-fi all the way!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…….
You would love it. Thanks, Resa.
Eeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
Like “Not Eeeeeven!”
Aieee….eeeeeeeven! Lol!
What a beautiful moth! I enjoyed the music too.
Thanks, Susan.
Fantastic! The music suits the moth!
“The music suits the moth” that’s a great line Leah. Thanks!
Fortunately Ghidorah did not show up…..but did you see/hear the Twins? 😉
No twins. Thanks, Maj & Sher.
Eeeeeeee! Mothra! I love this Timothy, great job!
Thanks, Holly. Moths give you and Resa the Eeees. You would fit in well out here.
I can see us now, eyes big as saucer, probably hiding behind the Tangle Heart somewhere.
The Tangle Heart would protect you from Mathra.
You’re awesome!
Not as awsome as you two lovely Eeeee girls and your tangly trees.
Ahhhh! We’re just hanging out there hoping a baby owl will join us , no Mothras though.
I don’t know about the babies, but daddy owl would be right there with you protecting you from Mathra.
He would be more than welcome, the Mathra gotta find another tree!
I love it. 🙂
Thanks, Jeanne Marie.
Loved the wrist. But what was that thing on it, Mothra-F? (Actually it was quite lovely)
Hi Bruce. When I picked up off the door, it flew up on my arm and started its wing flappy. I have no idea what it was doing.
Impressive size! Great blogpost in every way.
Thanks, Puzzlebloom.
🙂
Mothra? Well, so long as it’s not mother. Seriously that is one cool moth.
Thanks, Shehanne. Do you know the Jerry Jeff Walker song “Up Against the Wall You Redneck Mother”?
No I don’t. I must go look it up.
It’s not one of my favorite songs. But I like the line.
I did listen. It was okay actually and that line is good.
Cool. A little Americana for you. Check out David Allen Coe’s “Time Off for Bad Behavior” https://youtu.be/KDunQbkkD0c. It has one of the best verses ever written in it. The video is recent and he acknowledges it’s one of the coolest verses he ever wrote. Also check out “You Never Call Me By My Name”: https://youtu.be/HBT3gRDASIU.
I will . Thank you so much.
DAC is one of my favorite country singers. He’s led a hard life and it’s shows in those concert clips. Another great line of his is in the song “Long Haired Redneck” — “My long hair just can’t cover up my redneck.” That was especially true when I had my long hair in Spain. I was like a long haired redneck gypsy.
NOW… I had heard YOu never called. It was on a blog a wee while back and i knew it the second it started and it is brill. She lives in Florida but she’s a Texan.
If you know any Texans, Texans are never anything but Texans no matter where they are. It’s an endearing quality.
Yep, that’s how she comes over. Once a Texan, always a Texan.
So beautiful! Well captured.
Thanks, Leya.
There’s an optical illusion in this for me. The wings seem to be dried and shrivelled, but that might be part of its spooky powers.
It’s the way it’s flapping it’s weings they were normal and he could fly perfectly.
Oh, my…. you’re a moth whisperer!!!!!!! And the music accompanying it… haunting and brilliant! 🙂
Thanks, Marina. I’m probably a brave soul whispering to Mathra. I’m happy you like the music.
That you are! 😉 👍🙂
I’ve seen moths that are h-u-g-e. At least they blot out the porchlight when they’re fluttering about. 🙂
Moths get big. Thanks, David.
Such an interesting and beautiful mothra, very peculiar behavior!
Maybe it was trying to show me that Mothras matter. Thanks, Tiffany.
I enjoyed the video and music, Tim! That is a very beautiful moth. How is your guitar building coming along?
I really like butterflies, but I just get chills when I see moths!
That is interesting how moths seem more fearsome than butterflies. You are not along in the split between loving butterflies and having angst with moths. Thanks. What name do you prefer?
lol I promise, when I see moths, I’m like awwww but when it starts to fly, I pick to my heels!!
That’s why Mothra made a good monster. Do have a preference on your names?
no preference lol
Then I prefer to call you Lilian if that’s ok?
yeah, that’s cool Timothy
Stunning moth … great little video Tim!
Thanks, Julie.
