Eagle on the Rio Grande

Bald_Eagle_12_29_14

I went out for a walk along the Rio Grande just before sundown. A Bald Eagle was flying home along the far bank of the river, almost out of reach of my 70-200 mm zoom lens at 200 mm. The Sandhill Cranes were flying in for the night looking like bombers in formation as they flew overhead. As I made my way back home through the bosque, a lone crow sat on top of a branch watching the last bit of pink before it faded into the gray dusk.

      • Oh yay! So amazing how the sky changes. I love to watch it till it’s dark! Very soothing I believe! I saw a beautiful one tonight! It’s nice to be thought of! I always think of you as just living right down the route! LOL Way way way west

  1. Fantastic. Gosh, i miss that turquoise-blue sky… When i first moved there, friends “back east” would ask (of my photos) “Is the sky really that blue?!” They thought it was a flaw in the picture.
    > Watch out for those cranes… they might drop their own birdie bomb. LOL. Take an umbrella. 😀
