Great pics, as usual.
I just read that Bosque del Apache counted 1,000 sandhill cranes this weekend. Given that number there, I think we were really fortunate in all the ones we saw overhead, even if they were not all on the ground. All told, we may have seen as many as people at BdA.
Yes, I totally agree.
And, in addition, came home the back way instead of up the interstate. Good choice all the way around!
Beautiful shots of those cranes! And all the colors of this time of year, gold, green and blue sky. A Farmers’ Market day for us up here tomorrow. Rain forecast.
Thanks, John! We are planning on going down to Bosque del Apache, south of Bernardo, on Thanksgiving. There are thousands of cranes at BdA and Bernardo through the winter. So I should have photos of a lot more cranes in about a month or so.
The birds have gone crazy here! I noticed it this morning theu were everywhere! Definately a weather change! Time to fly South! They better keep going it gets cold here! 😄

Thanks, Susan. It’s good we stopped at Bernardo and went on to the old missions, instead of driving all the way down to Bosque del Apache.

Thanks, Lavinia! What’s a farmer’s market without rain? 😉
Wow, nice! I’ve never seen so many cranes in one place, and in a desert too.

Have a safe trip.
Gorgeous. The top photo is very striking because it looks as though a couple of them are holding each other’s wing.
Thanks, Genie!
We have a lot of those little birds too! Like all over the place!
We get a lot of them in the fields around us and on the river, but not nearly the numbers that they get at the wildlife preserves.
