Below is a Red-Tailed Hawk that was in an apple tree in Wagner’s orchard nextdoor. The first two photos were taken this morning, and remaining photos where taken this evening after sunset. The mud had dried a little in the evening, so I walked across the field to get closer photos. The hawk flew which allowed me to get backlit photos of it flying.

DSCF4890-Pano — A wide-angle looking east. The Sandias are blocked by clouds.

They kitties and I got up at 6:30 this morning to find 6 inches (15.24 centimeters) of snow on the ground and no power. Since we have our own well, no power means no water. Fortunately, we have a gas stove and keep bottled water on hand, so I could make coffee. Power was restored around 10:45 am, so it had been off 6 hours or longer. We did have cell service, so I was able to call the power company to make sure they knew we were without power. Then the kitties and I went out at 7:00 am, played in the snow and took photos.

Sunset on the Sandias and Sandhill Cranes coming in for landing. Most of the group of cranes decided not to land and flew further south, or made another round before landing.

Globe to San Diego

DSCF4336 — Giant tires, probably from mining trucks, used to stabilize the embamkment at the hotel in Globe, AZ.

We had a clear, warm day for our drive from Globe, AZ to San Diego, CA. Arizona has nice rest stops at interesting locations. California has most of their rest stops in the median between the traffic lanes on Interstate 8. They were not at very interesting locations. Therefore, I didn’t really get any good photos from rest stops in California, so the photos change from Arizona to San Diego Bay.
