Thirty-Eight Years

We celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary today. We went for a walk in the bosque, Laurie barbequed ribs and we sat out on the deck and ate dinner while the owls serenaded us with their hooting back and forth in the bosque. After dinner, we walked out to see the owlets. They had flown about 100 yards south of the Tangle Heart Tree. They are starting to fly really well. The moon was popping in and out of the clouds, and the skies were dramatic. Click on the photos to see a larger view.

  1. Congratulations and Happy Anniversary! You and Laurie have packed a lot of experiences into 38 years. Thanks for the pics this evening! 🙂

  2. ConGRATS and Happy 38th Anniversary! I never found the owlets near the Tangle Heart Tree, though you tow must have, untangling hearts over 38 years? GO YOU GUYS!

    • Thanks, Jordan. The owlets blend in really well. When the owlets were in the nest and on the tree where the nest is, there was a crowd of people out to see them every night. People see us on the ditch and ask about the owlets. We tell them where they can see them around dusk. It’s funny, we are the only two who seem to go out to look at the owlets now. We go out every night, and we find them frolicking around in the treetops. They are such a blessing. They are quite clear in tonight’s photo.

We’ve been through a lot in 38 years. We plug along through thick and thin, we’ve been through serious illnesses and almost death. We’ve been through a lot of stuff that might have put other couples asunder, but we carry on.

  3. Happy Anniversary to both of you. I am sure the food was excellent and the music wonderful. The views are stunning. What a gorgeous celebration Timothy. Wishing you many more to come.

  4. ♫ Congratulations, And jubilations
I want the world to know I’m happy as can be.
Who could believe that I could be happy and
    Contented
I used to think that happiness hadn’t been
    Invented
But that was in the bad old days before
    I met you
    When I let you
    Walk into my heart ♫

    Smashing!

  5. Congratulations for the 38th wedding anniversary! It looks like you and Laurie had a wonderful day.

      • Hi. It’s strange times at the moment isn’t it? I thought 2020 was going to be a much better year with so many things to look forward to – daughter’s wedding, son and partner building a house, even getting the surgery I hoped to have. But it’s all on hold for who knows how long … We have got two kittens, though. We are besotted. You would love them!

        • That’s so sad for you all. However, two kittens will do so much to easy the misery. We’ll keep looking forward to better days.

  6. Happy anniversary, Tim & Laurie! Congratulations.
What stunning colors! Mother Nature certainly gave you a lovely evening as an anniversary present. That’s the best shot yet of the owlets. Hugs on the wing!

  7. Happy Anniversary Timothy and Laura. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than an evening under those beautiful skies among the many blessings of nature that you’ve shared with us here. Wishing you many more wonderful years.

  8. How beautiful. Happy anniversary to you and your wife. What an incredibly beautiful place you live. Your photography is gorgeous. We have Barred owls here in NC and they are amazing while courting and calling to one another. What a thoughtful gesture to plant a tree in honor of someone like Gabriela. We planted lots of trees as soon as we got to NC. I look forward to making a new friend and enjoying your photography and writings. Again, happy Anniversary to you and your wife. What a blessing to have a friend for a wife. Love 💕 Joni

    • Thanks, Joni. I read your About. You’ve had a rough time of it. I’m happy you have finally found a man of equal yoke and that you were blessed with a beautiful, talented daughter. Both help ease the pain of your childhood.

      • Thank you Timothy. I am a truly blessed woman married to my best friend. Kind of you to read that post. My poetry and my photography is woven with truth and fantasy. I include post which include pain from the past but it is in hope of helping others realize they are not alone. Life can be filled with happiness, love, and all of God’s love for us and the gorgeous earth he provided for us. Thank you. Have a blessed weekend with your wife. I look forward to reading many more of your post and enjoying your photography. Love 💕 Joni

  9. 🥳 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!🎉
It sounds like a wonderful evening!
    It looks spectacular.
That last shot of the Tangle-Heart road is sensational.
So, all in all, it adds up to a wonderful, spectacular and sensational time.
    Congratulations to both of you!

Are those the owlets? Boy they sure get big fast!

    • Thanks, Resa. Those are the owlets. Almost as big as Mama and Daddy Owl. They are still fuzzy in a lot of places.

  10. Happy Anniversary, my dear friend and what a wonderful setting to be celebrating it in! [owls of course included!!!] May you two enjoy beauty and love, always. Warmest wishes from across the ocean!

  11. Love that beautiful sky. Happy Anniversary and congratulations on 38 years. We’ll be celebrating 37 in a couple of weeks. Sounds like you enjoyed a lovely evening.
