Gwendolyn and Loki

Jumping spider

Loki was thinking when Cater Mortis set in. Luckily, he snapped out of it. That was close, Loki!

Iris before and after Laurie whacked back Dr Huey. Dr. Huey was getting out of hand with long canes that were getting blown around and breaking the iris.
Resa looked up American Badgers and discovered they are on the endangered species list. Tristan said that’s because they are dangerous, mean, and grumpy. Craig piped in, “They will eat your face off!” I told them our badger is sweet. She said that the Cheo in the Badger recognized the Cheo in me, so it saw me as another mean and grumpy badger. There are advantages to being a mean and grumpy curmudgeon (Cheo).
We saw the badger again tonight. It listened to us for a few minutes, decided we weren’t a threat, and headed off to the apple orchard to hunt gophers. I photographed it with my phone because I had forgotten to check the batteries on the Bazooka’s camera body. Stupid paparazzo, as the critters like to say.

Close to sunset
All stunningbut your cats are stars.
I don’t need Silly Putty. I have Silly Kitties. Thanks, Shey.
They are beautiful and it is so obvious how much you love them and how well looked after they are.
They are spoiled.
You and Laurie are kind good folks.
Shey – I agree wholeheartedly. Tim – you know how to capture “cat portraits”.
I’d like to second that, please!
Gwendolyn and Loki are gorgeous:). – and the badger wonderful. Did I miss you for a couple of days?
You might have. I posted owls, badgers, birds and cats. The same as it ever was. Missing happens. Thanks, Janet.
Thanks Timothy….:)
Gwendolyn and Loki are adorable. If not for Laurie’s intervention, Dr Huey would eat up the iris!
Your badger really is sweet! Happy Thursday!
True. I had mentioned that I wanted to cut back Dr Huey, but Laurie said “While he’s blooming?” She hadn’t paid much attention to him while writing papers and getting homework done. She noticed yesterday and played Whack a Huey. Thanks, Marina.
🤣 Sounds very much like me!
Cater mortis! LOL!
Love the blooms and wow to Laurie. That was quite the job! Hope her arms were well protected.
Love the badger comment… Craig might be right 😉 Two soul brothers 😉
Animals can know. Thanks, Dale.
They can!
WE went through a period some years back of making badges/pins. We used flower photos; they were popular.
Your photos are spectacular, though.
Thanks, Michael. Flowers photos are perfect for badges and pins.
Hmmm, a gopher hunter in the yard wouldn’t be bad thing! 🤔
I wish my kitties snuggled…. soooo cute.
Great commentary here….. just make sure you don’t test the badger and become extinct yourself Tim😹
I’m careful with Maj the badge, Thanks, Cindy.
Oh good.. Maj that badge is a cute name. Don’t turn her into a pet. 😻
I had to find out more about badgers!!!! So you have me scurrying over the internet, Tim – something I love to do LOL!! Anyway, this is what I found:
Badgers are highly intelligent animals with well-developed cognitive abilities. They are known for their problem-solving skills, excellent memory, and complex social structures. Studies have shown that badgers exhibit advanced learning capabilities and are able to adapt to changing environments. Their intelligence is also evident in their hunting techniques and ability to communicate with each other through various vocalizations and body language. Overall, badgers are considered to be among the most intelligent mammals in the animal kingdom.
Move over humanity!!!! We are not the more advanced creature on this planet!!
We can tell how it listens to us that it very intelligent. They will also work with coyotes to hunt. Clever critters. Thanks, Rebecca.
Wow!! I did not know they hunted with coyotes!
Here’s a short piece about Coyotes and Badgers hunting together: https://www.treehugger.com/coyote-and-badger-hunt-together-4868739
They are a formidable pair!!! Thank you so much for the article.
They do make a formidable pair. While badgers are mostly loners, the one seemed to like having the coyote companion in the NFS photo series. You’re welcome.
The kitties are looking very sweet. I’ll keep a lookout for badgers. I don’t want my face chewed off.
You certainly do not. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
Gwendolyn and Loki are a beautiful, Tim! The badger seems to have landed in a good place to have you as a neighbor. He or she will be safe.
We are seeing a lot of jumping spiders this year.
It is the time of irises now. One we were given many years ago finally bloomed this year, a sweet scented white iris.
Thanks, Lavinia.
Beautiful flowers and sweet cats! I think animals like the badger and the owlets are coming to you because you have such a wonderful heart!
Thanks, Becky.
I was thinking I would not want a Badger around – saw one in the wild once while out on a trail in Yellowstone – scared the crap out of me as I didn’t know what their disposition was and my only reference was seeing their claws at a like wildlife preserve – damn thing kept coming at me forcing me to climb a rock for safety. Walked right past without even giving me a look. I must be mean and grumpy as well. I did have a change of heart when you mentioned they are Gopher hunters.. now that would be a benefit.
GHOs are good gophers. At getting them that is. Badgers seem cool as long as you don’t threaten them. You weren’t going to stand in that one’s way. Thanks, Brian.
Oh divine cuddly kitties! Your blooms are always gorgeous …
Thanks, Julie.
