The Rio Grande is flowing high and fast.
This House Finch was really red in the harsh morning sun.

Two House Finches and a Gold Finch

Walter gave me Round eyes this morning.

Willa was sleepy

Nora was sleeping this morning, as well. Osric was nowhere to be seen.

Turkey Vulture

Willa was still sleeping in the evening. Walter ducked down in the nest.

Osric was on a gate waiting for Nore to give him a shopping list.

Not only are the Alpacas shaved, wet, and cold, but the flies are also bothering them.

Side view of Osric on the gate

Our guard hummingbird followed us down to see the owls.

Sunset

Osric is a good provider. I am always amazed at these beautiful photos you get of the bosque and its critters, Tim. They are a joy to look at and bring a sense of peace, no matter what else is going on in the world. I like that molten sunset, too.
He is. The owlets seem content. 32 this morning. Poor shaved Alpacas must be cold. Thanks, Lavinia.
I love the red finch! We get brown and, once in awhile, yellow/green. I’ve never seen a red one!
Great owl pics too!
Thanks, Leenda.
Beautiful birds and sunset. I love the red finch….Enjoy your Monday:)
Thanks, Janet.
Such lovely colours, the sky the birds, even the wowl greys
Thanks, Shey.
The colours of the finches are spectacular. Love the closeups of Osric and the owlets. Always such a generous gift you share with us, Tim.
Lots of springing in spring. Thanks, Dale.
Such a glorious time.
Walter’ round eyes are something else! All magic feathers day!
Poor alpacas look overshaved!
It was 32 (0ºC) this morning. Poor shaved Alpacas must be feeling the cold. Thanks, Marina.
Brrr…. they must indeed. People went over the top with their shaving.
I enjoyed every one of the photos of the birds and shaved alpacas, Timothy, and the wonderful abundant Rio Grande. So great to see so many owls, including the little ones, and fantastic turkey vulture photo, too.
Thanks, Jet.
Lovely bird pictures, Timothy 😮
Thanks, Robbie.
Oh what amazing photos Tim! I love each and every one but I feel bad for the Alpacas with all those flies.
Poor Alpacas. Thanks, Nancy.
You have the most amazing friends, Tim. The red finch photos are especially spectacular.
Thanks, Rebecca.
It’s amazing how well the owls blend in with the tree trunk. Wonderful photos!
Thanks, Rebecca.
What a sunset! I love the all-birds post. The first one looks like he is about to say “Harumph!” The shaved alpacas look miserable.
Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome. Tim.
Great owl photos Tim, captures many moods.
Thanks, Brad.
Finches are my favourite birds. I used to see and hear their sweet song, but now it’s all pigeons, grackles, sea gulls and a few sparrows.
Gorgeous owl shots, Tim. Osric on the gate is beautiful.
Are the alpacas shaved for their wool? xx
Yes they shave the Alpacas for their wool. It’s super soft. When owl season is over, I have some grackle photos from Texas to post. They are really silly birds. Thanks, Resa.
Grackles are an underrated bird.
They are probably considered pests in some areas. We saw so many of them in Texas. There were a lot of them the last time we were in Las Vegas, NV, also.
Well, at least they’re hardy, and one of the few NOT on an endangered species list.
Good point.
The finches have beautiful colors! The alpacas were so cute shaved! 💕
Great pictures!
Thanks, Becky.
wonderful
Thanks, Gigi.
🙂
Now this is my kind of post Tim!! Nice pic of the House Finch – they are rather colorful in their breeding plumage, but they tend to invite all their friends over whenever they have a party and eat me out of house and seed. Love those big Owl eyes – like someone squeezed its belly too hard ha.
“What round eyes you have, Walter!” “All the better to see you with, stupid paparazzo!” Our finches have to eat the grasses we leave for them. I’ve cut most of them down to make room for new grasses to grow. Thanks, Brian.
What a place to live!
Thanks, Geoff.
Gorgeous sunset … and those beautiful birds! Thanks sharing Tim
You’re welcome, Julie.
