A crane flew to the moon one night
A silhouette against the cool light
Icarus flew close to the sun
He burned his wings, fell back to earth
The crane asked the broken man
“Why oh why are you such a fool? Men are not meant to fly!
Why oh why try to fly to the sun when by and by…”
The crane said with a heavy sigh
“…you know that you will surely die!”
Nice post
Thanks, Rehoboth.
Nice shot! You can certainly see the resemblance to their prehistoric ancestors in this photo.
Thanks, Rebecca.
Oh my goodness! As if the photo is not fantabulous enough… your poem is wonderful, Tim.
Thanks, Dale.
🙂
Perfect composition in the photo, and perfect verse creation to go along. Most entertaining, Tim.
Thanks, Maj & Sher.
Now this is very cool!
Thanks, Cindy.
Such a deep moving poem, Tim. And photo is an awesome statement. ☺️ Christine
Thanks, Christine. I’m happy you liked them. How are you doing on part two of your story?
Thanks for asking, Tim. I’m doing a modified NaNoWriMo. Trying to get as many words as possible to add to the 22,000 already written. The story structure is set, and I’m excited to write the scenes, especially Woodstock & the Vietnam War. Features of the mid-late 1960s. 📚🎶 Christine
Sounds like you are moving along. And November is giving you an extra kick.
I love the depth of you poem Tim and your amazing picture to go with it. ❣️
Thanks, Cindy. I’m happy you liked them.

You are welcome, Janet.
You have a poets heart! This is beautiful!
Thanks, Holly.
My pleasure!
Very nice Tim. Reminds me of the photos with a plane in front of the moon. Was it hard to focus on a silhouette in fading light?
I don’t think it was hard to focus on the silhouette. It has sharp edges. I really have to rely on the autofocus right now. I can’t see crap with my current prescriptions. Thanks, Brad.
That is a gorgeous photo and beautiful poem, Tim. Nice catch!
34 and partly cloudy here today. I saw the waning gibbous moon this morning, high in the west.
Thanks, Lavinia. 19º this morning, thin cloud cover now.
That crane is playing ball with the Moon! Wow, Tim… and your words! Wise crane… unlike the human! 😉
Thanks, Marina. We humans can be awfully foolish.
That’s awesome, Tim.
Thanks, Jeff.
Most welcome, Tim.
