Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and possibly Nunki seen on the righthand edge of the photo. I couldn’t find anything else that would be that bright to the right of Saturn in the charts.
What is Saturn opposed to? The sun, of course. On August 14th Saturn will be at its brightest. I’m hoping for a clear night.
These images of Saturn were taken through the night into the early morning hours using my Bazooka lens (Canon 400mm ƒ/4 DO) on a Canon 7D Mark II when I could see Saturn through breaks in the clouds. The moon peeking out through a break in the clouds. The moon finally broke free from the clouds.Jupiter with three of its moons. I was surprised I got Neptune on the right.
I enjoy those night sky photos, especially Saturn with its rings. It is clear here at sundown with the growing moon high in the sky. 90 degrees today, dry and windy earlier. It’s calm out there now.
yeah… Drink ale it ses on a barrel outside one of the hotel bars, so we did! We walked, we played pool, we put this stick thing we found that looked like a mini dinosaur in all the pics…
I have been away attending a 3-day family wedding in nature. I was in and out of Wi-Fi so have been missing your photos. I have the mosquito bites to prove it, but we had a lovely time. I am just catching up on all of your amazing posts.
It was wild!!! We had to travel gravel roads with deep holes to get to the location. But it was worth it. And I am glad that I witnessed two beautiful people celebrate a new beginning. As for the mosquitos, I think this quote says it best:
“If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.” Dalai Lama XIV
Thanks, Charlotte. I’ve been using my telephoto lens that I take wildlife photos with for astro photography. I call it the Bazooka. You can see Spunk with it at https://wp.me/p1yQyy-5TW.
We do have less light polution than you do, but we actually have a fair amount of light pollution from Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. When I was a kid we could see the Milkyway.

Thanks, Lavinia. No moon tonight. Clouds are spitting on us, but no measurable rain so far.

“Hot August night…” like Niel Diamond sang.
That’s a beauty. Probably my favorite song by him ( after he left Crosby Stills and Nash).

Thanks, Rebecca. Weddings in the wilds are, lets say, Wild! Mosquito bites suck, both literally and figuratively.

Great quote. Hard to get to places can be well worth it.
Gorgeous!!! And you captured blue Neptune! (Always been drawn to that planet in particular!)
Its namesake is a cool god. Thanks, Samantha.

Ahh, I remember seeing the Milky Way when I was a kid growing up in the prairies. Now that you mention it, I haven’t seen the Milky way in decades.
Wish my moon shots looked like yours …
Thanks, Julie.
Nice Saturn shots – like a little Marvin spaceship….cept white instead of green ha.
Yep! Thanks, Brian.
