The Rio Grande at 7:30 p.m. this evening. !Milgro! There’s water!
The Conservancy released water from Abiquie Reservoir. Why now? I have no idea. It’s past the growing season, and most of the cottonwoods in the bosque are suffering or bare, possibly dead. The release of water might be due with the agreements between Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico. But it’s too little, too late for the farmers and the trees.
A good friend of mine published a book of fiction called UnCanny Valley that took place near there.

I’m hoping that the predictions for winter based on a “strong El Niño” come true, without anything being wrecked by it. The prediction currently is that winter here will be a little warmer than usual but a lot wetter than usual. As much as I despise snow, I am hoping for it this winter.
(I knew that water was going to be released, but I forget the rationale.)

Terrible news about the trees and who can figure out why the government does anything. Love Doppel. Such a beauty and he looks so comfortable and happy now that he has a home and love. As always, beautiful photos.
