Out To Lunch At Walmart

Speaking being out to lunch, I’m going to take a long lunch break from blogging. I’m tired, and I have been having so much trouble with WordPress over the past few months, I can’t deal with it anymore, and I have decided I really need to take a break.

  1. I’m really going to miss all your pictures, especially the cats! But I understand as I certainly can’t post very often myself. And I I understand the problems with WordPress. I hate the Blockhead Editor!

    • Thanks, Leah. WP has really slowed down, but the most frustrating thing for me is that it has crashed several times over the past few months, and I lost the post I was working on and had to start over. That’s what I can’t deal with.

    • I have plenty of bandwidth, but WP has really slowed down and has been crashing a lot. I have lost several posts in progress and had to start over. Thanks, Sheyenne.

  2. I will miss all the wonderful things you post here during your break. I want to add how much your trip meant because you took time to post about it at the time. Of course I hope sometime you will be back with the blog. But I can certainly relate to the overwhelming fatigue. Wishing you a fabulous break from the blog.

  3. The amount of friends that have been struggling with WP as of late (including me) is unbelievable with some closing up shop complety as a result. Enjoy the break, take care of the family, furbabies and all. We will be here whenever you feel it is time to come back!

    • Sheyenne mentioned her trouble with bandwidth on her blog. I have gigabit Internet, but WP has gotten slower and slower, and now it crashes pretty much daily. I have lost a lot of posts that were in progress and had to start over. They simply went “Poof” and disappeared, and the supposed saved drafts were nowhere to be found. I’m to the point where I need to let it rest. Thanks, Brian.

  4. Epic Timothy, even the giants need to rest. You do a wonderful job, seamlessly here, despite probs you have had..Also in addition, WP, like every platform going can’t leave well alone. So many folks have had bother lately. And if you a PC person are also having that, and you’re sick of it, well……In the main when I come online I just want to find the various sites the were when I left them. From access to where’s the this and that button. Like everyone else my life is too busy to have to spend ages finding my way through probs I never created. We have lots of posts to go back to and pics to look at till you return. We will all be here.

    • One problem with WP is that they have programmers who need to be doing something all the time, so they keep making “improvements!” that no one asked for. While I mostly find their unwanted improvements to be annoyances that I can work around, of late, WP’s slowness and crashing are what have driven me to despair. Thanks, Shey.

      • Well the other week he reader wouldn’t load. I thought it was maybe the age of my pc..as you know… But a ton of folks were having the same and or probs with liking any blog. every day it is another ‘improvement’ when really well should be left alone. It is very slow sometimes too. It is like when these online mail suppliers give you a whole new look that creates visual migraines… you name it. That is before we get to AI. And sometimes you jsut ahve to walk away.

        • I run an ancient WP theme, which is probably a lot of my problems, but I can’t update to a current theme without messing up and losing most of the photos and content I have posted over the past 15 years. I know this because I tried upgrading my theme a few years ago after WP was pestering me to do so. I even tried setting up a self-hosted WP blog. Neither was a no-go. I can’t find a new theme compatible with my old theme.

  5. WordPress proclaims they’re adding so many “new” things but each addition adds another layer of complication and problems for users. If they consider that an improvement then I have the definition of “improvement” wrong. Enjoy your blog break…….

    Pam

    • Their programmers have to stay busy adding new features to earn their keep. New features are one thing, but when the layers of complications slow down WP and cause it to crash are another with more serious implications. I’ve had too many posts in progress simply disappear, along with their saved drafts over the past few months. Thanks, Pam.

  6. Great captures and honestly, I do not know how you’ve been doing it daily for so many years. A much deserved break ahead for you. We shall miss you, of course. I so understand being tired.

    • Thanks, Dale. When WP works well, I like sharing my little corner of the world with you.

      • I don’t know why so many people have issues. Touch wood, I seem to be okay – maybe because I am on it so intermittently.

And we love when you share your little corner of the world!

        • You are lucky. I am running an ancient theme, but I don’t want to change it. Years of posts would be all lost up. Thanks, Dale.

  7. I will miss seeing these beautiful and interesting slices of life down your way, Tim, but understand the need for a break. Things changing rapidly everywhere now. Rest up and enjoy life.

  8. I love the simplicity of the first photo. I hope you have a good break, Tim! (WordPress has been giving people fits recently. Boo, hiss to all the changes.)

  9. Don’t let WP win! I hope you figure out a way to post in spite of their obstacles. The world needs your cats and landscapes and sunrises and art and observations and poetry and humor!

  10. I’ll miss the cats and my kitty will too. Please keep track of the owls as well. Let us know somehow when you revive. I have a friend who uses Blogspot and it seems pretty reliable. And, your amazing roses.

  11. You put so much into every post. I think it is fine to take a break. I have been doing more outside and just in my life for a while now and although I do miss everyone, I don’t have what it takes anymore to spend up to eight hours every day on line. I hope your problems are resolved soon, Timothy. You are an amazing talent.

  12. Ahh, miss you!

Still, breaks are good, from anything. I don’t post every day, so I’m not that tired of it. If I don’t feel like it, I don’t blog.

As you know, I am very irregular.

I hope you are well, stay well and enjoy the kitties and all you love!

    xxx

PS You know where I am, Tim!

  13. Hi Tim. Everything looks so beautiful on your side of Route 66. I hope all is well with you. Did you get to go to Germany? I’m way behind on everything WP wise. Have a great day 💕

  14. Enjoy your break from Blogging, Tim. Perhaps you will have more photos to share. 😊
I have been taking a break too. WP is so aggravating!
Enjoy your time relaxing with your cats and Jake!
