After nearly two months with zero precipitation, I woke up to the sound of rain falling. We got 0.17 of an inch of rain. At the office we had rain mixed with snow, and there was a dusting of snow in the foothills.
Being a weird kid, The Rain Song was one of my favorite songs on Houses of the Holy. I also loved No Quarter. I liked all the songs on that album. I used to turn on a black light and listen to the album over and over when I was a teenager. Did you have backlight posters?
How strange that your first rain was mixed in with snow. We’ve been hearing the first ‘real’ rain for months falling on our tin roof in Jackson, Mississippi, over the last 24hrs or so, but my sweetheart hardly thinks it counts and would like a lot more. I’d guess that 70% of the very popular Little Gem magnolias around here have died.
One of the best feelings is getting up at the break of day with the smell of rain in the air š I can stand and stare at such a scene the whole morning… Great shot, Tim!
Dry wells are not good. Our well is 275 feet deep and the water table fluctuates between 6 and 8 feet in the valley. We need a lot more rain. Thanks, Brian.
Beautiful image. Anita
Thanks, Anita.
Happy Dance! š§ļø
I did a happy ride in the cold. Thanks, Michele.

Rain Dance!!! Yaya!
I listened to a wonderful live version of “The Rain Song” by Page, Plant and orchestra: https://youtu.be/FWDuMk_9HWg?si=UxYcA3pCxWYpr84N. Thanks, Dale.
This is wonderful! Reminds me of when my hubby and I went to see Plant and Page in our first year together. What a show.

It was one of Mick’s faves, too. Both albums were so good. And yes! I did! I even had one where we coloured in with markers.
You WILL be glad. Meantime here for the last few weeks we have had nothing but rain. End;less, ceseless rain. Wish I could have sent you some.
It would be nice if you could share your rain. Thanks, Shey.
I know and i wish i could. We have had so damn much and you folks are getting none.
That is great! It rained here too!
Wonderful, the tones and steady rhythm of the rain works wonders for mind body and soul
It does. Thanks, abvr.
Lovely, enjoy Timothy
Excellent. Thanks, Marina,.
Did you celebrate? I would have danced in it if given an opportunity. LOL
I rode my mountain bike to celebrate. Thanks, AmyRose.
Hope you cracked open a bottle of champagne:)
I turned over pedals on my mountain bike. Thanks, Janet.
Those storm clouds must have been very welcome!
It was nice to get some measurable rain. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
Then my rain dance worked? May your flowers flourish! š·šøš»š¼šŗ
Thanks for your rain dance, Holly. Much appreciated.
Iām just surprised it worked. First time. š
It did. Good for you.

Isn’t that a soothing sound? Especially after months of no rain at all. The clouds have an almost purple-ish cast to them.
The sound of a soft, steady rain is soothing. Thanks, Brad.
We enjoy sitting on our 3-season porch during the rain. Of course, now that we have time in retirement we are seldom home during rain showers.
I am glad you are getting some rain now, Tim. Yes, the sound of rain on the roof is comforting after a long drought.
Your sky looks like ours this morning.
Thanks, Lavinia.

He’s right. You need a lot more rain, but not all at once like California got earlier in the year. Thanks, Susan.
So much needed Tim.. happy to hear!!!š
Thanks, Cindy.
Not a lot of rain, but rain!
Gorgeous shot, Tim!
Thanks, Resa.

I hear you on that. Thanks, Randall.
Two months without rain? Oh gosh š¢ but if you want snow I will gladly give you some on behalf of the North!āŗļø
I’l take whatever you can send this way. Thanks, Becky.
Sure! Itās snowing now. I will gladly give it to you
Clear, cold and dry here.
At last! Here’s hoping there’s more to come, Tim.
Supposedly by the end of the month. We’ll see. Thanks, Inchy.
Fingers crossed, Tim.
It’s rained a good part of the day today. I rode my bike in the rain. It’s still raining.
Great Balls of Fire!
Fantastic news, Tim!
Getting out in it must have been a blessed experience?
Well done!
3/4 of an inch for the month.
Oh, dear… Glad you made the best of it anyway, mate.
That was probably quite a relief – things are getting a bit dry here and one of our wells went dry – hoping that corrects itself next week.
