Daybreak Brought Rain

After nearly two months with zero precipitation, I woke up to the sound of rain falling. We got 0.17 of an inch of rain. At the office we had rain mixed with snow, and there was a dusting of snow in the foothills.

  1. Isn’t that a soothing sound? Especially after months of no rain at all. The clouds have an almost purple-ish cast to them.

  2. How strange that your first rain was mixed in with snow. We’ve been hearing the first ‘real’ rain for months falling on our tin roof in Jackson, Mississippi, over the last 24hrs or so, but my sweetheart hardly thinks it counts and would like a lot more. I’d guess that 70% of the very popular Little Gem magnolias around here have died.

    • He’s right. You need a lot more rain, but not all at once like California got earlier in the year. Thanks, Susan.

  3. One of the best feelings is getting up at the break of day with the smell of rain in the air šŸ™‚ I can stand and stare at such a scene the whole morning… Great shot, Tim!

    • Dry wells are not good. Our well is 275 feet deep and the water table fluctuates between 6 and 8 feet in the valley. We need a lot more rain. Thanks, Brian.
