Group Shot

New Dawn. Same as the old Dawn?

The poor Paparazzo. Large group photos are like herding cats. I know. I’ve done both.

  1. Beauty, as it ever was! As for the paparazzo you reminded me of a photo shoot for a hotel. For one photo we gathered all the hotel staff [about 100 people!] in front of the hotel. Doing so took a lot of planning – rearranging – effort etc. Given that the hotel was in an island you can imagine our surprise when the photographer announced that he had forgotten to take the cover off the camera for that photo!

  2. Tim, awesome “dawn” shots. I never see skies like that in Southern CA. A sneaking’ goo group shoot. Wonder how many the photographer had to take to get everyone front and center, and smiling? 🙄 Christine

Update: The main character in the book sequel, in progress, is at Woodstock 1969. She has inadventently eaten marijuana-laced brownies and willingly smoked a “good weed” joint. And her new friend, James Gurley, lead guitar in Big Brother and the Holding Company, helped her get on stage with Janis Joplin, to sing, “Piece of My Heart.” ❤️A lot of fun writing those scenes. 📚 Christine

    • Thanks, Christine. What fun at Woodstock. Speaking of Janice Joplin, a voice coach doing an analysis of Robert Plant mentioned it would have been cool for those two to have sung together. She had a good point. Of course, Joplin and Plant were in two different parts of the world and Joplin died at the time Led Zeppelin was making it big on the music scene.

      • Thanks, Tim. I’ll check the voice coaches analysis. I saw a YouTube on two singers analysis singing like Janis. He brought up good points. James Gurley had the main character play the guitar and sing any favorite song for him in their parked car at Woodstock. She got through half of “Piece of My Heart.” He put his hand up, and said, “Enough! That’s the best version of that song I’ve heard, yet. Better than Janis.” The main character sang with high emotion, but not screaming like Janis. An aside here. Janis ruined her vocal chords by singing like that. Scar tissue had formed. Janis died October 4, 1970. I have a surprise tribute to Janis at the end of the sequel. All along, the main character was taken by Janis’s boho look and tried to emulate her playing in a band, getting away from her straight, professional nurses dress. Christine

  3. I’ve done one of the two.
    Meow!
Okay, you’ve done it again. I’ve got that Who song in my head.

    Same as the old boss”
We Won’t Get Fooled Again! xo

  4. Know exactly what you mean on the group shots. Linda and I did one wedding and quickly decided NEVERMORE. Now she does dog shows which I think still might be easier than psycho brides ha.

    • I worked for a studio and photographed weddings all through the 80s into the 90s. Psycho brides were quite common back then, but I would think today’s brides would be much worse. Thanks, Brian.
