Sunset

After spending the long weekend cutting dead canes out of rose bushes and dead branches off of trees, cutting back the black bamboo, clearing out dried foliage from last year, and cleaning up the deck, we went out and bought various flowers in containers for the deck, which included hearty and speckled petunias.

Pretty shades of pink.
After all that hardwork
I don’t blame you
In fact I salute for decorating your most intimate surroundings with these outrageously gorgeous shocking pink speckles.
Thanks, abvr.
You are welcome Timothy
Thanks, Michele.
Gorgeous flowers
Thanks, Roberta.
They are beautiful flowers, Tim! The speckled ones look as if they are under a black light, such unusual colors!
They do have a blacklight glow. Thanks, Lavinia.
Lovely. ah yes it is that time of year again re gardnes and outdoor spaces.
Yes it is. Thanks, Shey.
Wild petunias, and the cloud at sunset reminds me of a crab coming towards you, with that large pincher claw on the left…
It was a crabby looking cloud. Thanks, Maj & Sher.
Beautiful sunset and beautiful blooms!
Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
I don’t think I have ever seen striped or speckled petunias before
The one with the hearts on them are one of my favorites. The speckled are really interesting. Thanks, JYP.
Is there a word like rosarians for petunia growers? If not there should be!
Petuniacs? I don’t know that there is a rosarian equivalent for petunia cultivators. Petunias originated in South American and the natives believe they ward off monsters and spirits. Our new petunias have their work cut out for them.
Ah yes, I recall you mentioned paranormal activity. Those petunias better get busy.
Maybe they will help us to “keep them separated!” Those paranormal activities, that is.
Timothy, when you come to visit Paris one day, in travel, let me know by e-mail or on my website, so that we can meet in Paris. I’d be very happy.😊
I would love to go back to Paris. We were in Paris in 2013 and again in 2018. I met a blogger in 2018 and she gave us a tour of the 10th and 19th arrondissements where she grew up. You can see where we walked that day on this post: https://photos.tandlphotos.com/blog/2018/8/the-19th-on-the-19th. It was a lot of fun.
I would love to meet you in Paris someday. If you make it to Albuquerque before I make it to Paris, you will have to let me know. Are you travelling again?
Wonderful photos of Paris on your travel. I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to Paris in 2018.
I would also take you on a tour of Paris and its magnificent monuments. And I’ll presente you to my cat “Chipie”.
You’ll contact me when you come to Paris and we’ll meet I hope.
Yes, I’m traveling again. Also, I’ll let you know when I come to America.
I would love to meet Chipie. When you come to the US we can have “Breakfast In America.” Do you remember the song and album by Supertramp?
I love supertramp. One of my favorite album “Breakfast in America” and the Best-of
Great line up of albums.
I listen many of music. And the very Best-of Supertramp is one of my favorite albums here on my blog : https://voyage-onirique.com/2021/04/22/mes-25-albums-musiques-preferes/
Good variety of albums. Do you know Steel Panther?
Very pretty! I bought marigolds because they are so “sunny.” I also spent the holiday weekend on yard work and housework.
Holidays are good times for yardwork and housework. Thanks, Dawn.
You sure were busy! I love the flowers! Such a pretty colour!
Thanks, Becky.
Pink pretties!
It sounds like a lot of hard work!
I’ve been yard cleaning as well.
It’s that time of your. The plants really appreciate all the attention. Thanks, Nancy.
Pretty in pink skies!
Thanks, Teri.
The speckled petunias are new to me. Pretty sunset.
They are so interesting. Thanks, Rebecca.
…and after a long day, sitting on the deck admiring the petunias! Sigh! May be a long exhausting day, but all worth it! 😉
All the work on the plants makes them happy and they go crazy with blooms. Thanks, Marina.
Yes, I know exactly what you mean! 🌸
love the speckled pink to cheer up the deck! 💞
Thanks, Cindy.
You’re welcome Tim!❣️
Beautiful Timothy.
Thanks, Cindy.
Geez, Tim, what a lot of work!
Still your place is gorgeous, and the Petunias are a joyous reward!
Thanks, Resa. Everything is happy except for my joints.
I can understand why. My joints aren’t happy and I walked. lol
💜
Thanks, Christine.
The speckled petunias fascinate me – this one is psychedelic.
Thanks, Susan.
Oh my gosh!!!! I always wondered what the white and pink striped flowers were (I’ve always loved them) and now I know! Thank you!!! Beautiful photos! 💖
You are welcome, Samantha. I’m happy you finally know what the flowers.
Planting petunias must have felt down-right relaxing after all that other back-breaking and skin ripping work! (Then again, planting flowers usually means some back work is involved…
Planting them would be too much work. They live in containers on the deck. Thanks, Dale.
Are they bought in containers? Then again, you don’t have to bend too far to transfer them from boxes to planters 😉
They come all arranged in containers. We deadhead them and water them and they are happy flower campers.
Nice.
These photos are great!!!
Thanks, Damien.
Anytime, and thank you again for sharing them. Looking at things that are beautiful is really helpful. 🙂
Natural beauty is theraputic.
Agreed. 🙂
That’s a lot of work there Tim, I think I need a rest just reading about it. My days are filled with busting out concrete and hauling the pieces down into the valley to address a gully water is determined to make into the Colorado River. Thought about calling a Crossfit gym and offering them a free “sledge” workout. Take a rest and enjoy the pretty flowers.
Offering cross fitters a chance to get a sledge hammer workout is a great idea. I wouldn’t let them loose on rose bushes, however. You probably don’t want to start a Grand Canyon in you neck of the woods. Thanks, Brian.
This stupid gully started out as a runoff from the ravines that lead into the valley that eventually make their way to the stream running through the middle of our property – it started out as 1′ wide by 1′ foot deep depression when we built the house in 2006 – it is now 21′ feet across and 13′ feet deep. Last three years I have been pouring concrete structures to stem the damage – probably 200 bags of concrete hand mixed. Think I finally have it back under control – next year’s spring flooding will tell me for sure.
Give nature and inch and it will go for a mile. That’s a nice sized mini Grand Canyon.
