Dumpsta-Spunk Meowing at the Half Moon

For any of you who know Spunk Kitty, you will understand how Spunk will not be outdone by mice, birds, squirrels, and especially lizards and bullfrogs. Spunk was not very happy that I posted Froggyphunk, by Jeremiah and the Lizards, yesterday before he got a chance to pitch his song idea to me. When I got home this afternoon, I got an ear full from Spunk about me posting a song by a stupid bullfrog when he had a song in mind called Meowing at the Half Moon. He insisted I help him record his song that instant. I told him I was tired and that I would rather do it over the weekend. Spunk would have none of that “over the stupid weekend” talk, and told me he would “scratch my eyes out” if we did not record his song tonight. So Spunk and I went into my darkroom/music studio, played, meowed, mixed and produced Meowing at the Half Moon by Dumpsta-Spunk. Enjoy.

  1. Just wondering how Mr. Bowie will react after hearing this Spunky song… Maybe it’s time to set up a microphone…

    • Hi Herman. When I played it over the loud speakers our kitties went wild. They were looking for the other kitties meowing from the speakers, and coming up to me with puzzled looks on the faces. Marble buried herself in a blanket on the couch.

      • Haha… this is so funny. Normally, Mr. Bowie doesn’t react are shows any interest when seeing a YouTube clip of a cat or a dog. But maybe he’ll go wild hearing your song…

  2. PLEASE may I have permission to use this on my weekly NPR garden program? At the halfway mark of every broadcast over the past 15 years or so, I use a garden- or weather- or season- or other-wise related tune to break up the sometimes-serious mood; I get MANY compliments from my listeners (all over the country and overseas) who long ago started calling it the “cheesy tune of the week” – and quite a few people tune in specifically for it!
Yours is one of the best i have had submitted in a looooong time (though it’s a close contest with the farmer who plays trombone to his cows – Google it).
If i can use it, i will of course credit you…
    Cheers

  4. Is that a Catatonic or a Pentatonic yer playin’ there Tim?
I think that Funk Jam we went to cast its Nar’ Lans voodoo magic on you.
Bloody Awful Tim! Keep ’em coming.

  5. Ha! Crystal is now #1 Fan-girl of Spunk.
I know that reaction so well, Tim. Crystal gets “the meow-meow” so loudly and insistently that she her own version of the Wham! song Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.
    Hugs!

    • HI Teagan. Spunk and I have this thing were we bounce meows off each other. I can imagine Crystal singing Wake Me Up Before You Go Go.

      • How about for the chorus:

She woke me up with her meow meow
I answered back with a growl growl
She woke me up with her meow meow
I screamed and I hit that high
She woke me up with her meow meow
Now I’m planning on sleeping solo
She woke me up with her meow meow
        I’m not sleeping tonight
I’ll just sit here and sigh

      • Tee-hee! That’s exactly what happens.
She seems to like it when I make up “kitty cat words” to the songs, and make the story around her name. Her favorites are that one and Sandman.
