Conjunction? Not!

Behind all those clouds Jupiter and Venus were conjoining. It’s supposed to be clear on Friday morning for the second conjunction of Jupiter and Venus.

Since I couldn’t see the conjunction, I was hoping for a colorful sunrise, but no such luck.

While it might look like Daisy Duck was gabbing to Donald Duck, she was chasing insects.

A very large wasp ran up to me and then turned and retreated when I moved my foot.

Daisy and Donald kept flying by us and landing ahead of us.

Wasp In Winter

Wasp? Did I hear you say Wasp in winter?

Tristan found this wasp with her wings tucked under her while we were setting up for Reyes. Tristan put the wasp in a container with some honey to see how long she will last. The wasp may be an old lady since she was found snuggled up by herself in one of our cushions on the deck.

She’s A Big One

Meet Wilma Wasp, a Toltec Scoliid (Dielis tolteca) that is native to the southwest. I normally only see the butts of Toltec Scoliids sticking out of the trumpet-shaped flowers of the Chitalpa tree. However, this afternoon, Wilma Wasp was really working the Shasta Daisies totally ignoring my phone camera just inches away from her.

Lilies, Daisy, Black-Eyed Susan, Rio Samba

I don’t know what type of lilies these are. I’m pretty sure we got them as a collection from Brecks, but that was years ago, and Brecks doesn’t offer anything that looks like these lilies on their website.

This lily is part of the collection, the same type of lily in a different color.

Lovelorn Wasp

With lots of colds, flu, allergies, and hacking making the rounds, Teri Dashfield, who has Images by Dashfield, inspired the Average White Boys to collaborate with another obscure virtual group of allergy-infested hackers known as Violent Phlegm to form a new virtual music group called Coughing Cooties. I am happy to release the Coughing Cooties’ first single, Lovelorn Wasp.
