Cranes foraging in the Rio Grande at twilight

I got a half ton of crusher fines this morning to fill in potholes on my road.

Grape leaves

The big red hill.
I find it funny readers have been referring to the Sandia Mountains (Watermelon Mountains) as a hill. The Sandias stand at 11,000 feet (3,353 meters) above sea level. They are 6,000 feet (1,829 meters) higher than my property.

Oh good! Best to have the potholes fixed… can you send them up to Montreal? It’s a mess up here!
And I never thought of the Sandias as a hill! Love your photos.
Sorry, but I’m not for hire to fix your pot holes. Pot holes are a constant problem. Thanks, Dale.
Sigh…. You’d never be done here so just as well.
Not in my aging lifetime. Or even if I was young.
💞
The cranes look mysterious in the twilight. You can send those crushers over here! It took almost two months for the town to fix the road behind my place. Granted, they were putting in pipes.
It takes the town forever to just fix a road. We have pot holes big enough that a car can get stuck in 😂
Deferred maintenance on public roads seems to be an issue most places. I will say that the roads were well maintained in southern Germany. Thanks, Becky.
I found that northern BC roads are horrible but elsewhere like Vancouver are better.
That’s a big machine. The cranes were beautiful and he mountain is so amazing,
It’s huge. A half-ton of crusher fines was a tiny portion of the bucket. I’m guessing it holds 10 tons or more. Thanks, Gigi.
Gosh we could do with you here in our street fixing the mess! Epic post and pics.
I trashed myself in the process, and made my shoulder hurt again shoveling a half-ton of crusher fines. That half-ton did not go very far filling holes either. But I got most of the big holes filled. Owning a road is a pain, but even if the Village owned it, I would still have to maintain it. Thanks, Shey.
Gorgeous photos Tim!
Yep, loads of potholes here too. Seems the neglect and bad condition of our roads is a worldwide problem.
The roads were well maintained in southern Germany, and they keep roads in pretty good condition around here. My road is private, so I have to be the road crew. It’s getting more difficult as I get older. I’m trying to get the top of the road that is in the worst condition redone. That is turning out to be a major deal and will be costly. Thanks, Miriam.
Good luck Tim. Sounds like you might need to enlist some more members to join your road crew.
Many of the neighbors, who don’t know me, look at me like I’m some low-life, hired hand, illegal laborer when they drive by in their electric Porsches and Mercedes-Benzes while I’m filling in potholes.
Little do they know you’re a talented slightly whacky musician, a brilliant photographer and all round fixer man. Let them keep their Porsches!
I’m sure I have referred to the Sandias as a “hill” – tough to know sizes without something to compare them to nearby…..still – beautiful – whether hill or mountain.
Pam
When I do super-wide-angle shots, the river looks like a lake and the mountains look like a hill. Photos lying and exaggerating. Thanks, Pam.
Photos do sometimes lie/exaggerate……I tell people that the photos of me are lying and I don’t really have gray hair….but then I’d be lying!
It’s a photographic conundrum. Thanks, Pam.
Wow! What an awesome shot of the hill.
Thanks, Imelda.
I love the night skyscapes.
The night skies have been great. Thanks, Liz.
