Spunk and Jake

Snapping turtle on the irrigation ditch bank
When Jake and I went out for our afternoon walk, my neighbor, Sara, and a cyclist were pondering the snapping turtle on the irrigation ditch bank, headed away from the Clearwater ditch and river. Sara got an old horse feed bag, we got the snapping turtle in the sack, and I carried him to the river.

He was looking very dry, but still had a lot of snap in him.

He was still upset over being bagged and carried to the river, so he gave me a menacing look.

Sunset

After he got into the river, he stretched out and soaked under sunset clouds.

Jake watching the turtle soak in the shallows.

Spunk
Sasha looks like me when I am trying to get up out of bed!🤣🤣🤣
What huge eyes the turtle has! Jake looks like he wants to swim with the turtle ☺️
Sasha thinks I get up way too early. Jake was enjoying watching the turtle. Thanks, Beaky.
Hmm, snapping turtles are one of the few creatures I don’t mess with…they can reach back over their shell if they get pissed enough and they don’t let go. Got more gumption than I do Tim (went with the family friendly word ha). Is Spunk and Jake doing the if I can’t see em they aren’t here routine?
I picked him up from right behind his head. He kept striking, and he was really heavy for being on the smaller side of snappers in the ditch. It would have been a real struggle to carry him a 1,000 feet to the river like that. I was grateful for the sack. Another episode of Tim Dandy to the Rescue!
Spunk is playing that game. Jake was simply waiting for me to open the door for him. Thanks, Brian.
Look at that re Owlet… There again today. Now given everything else here, move over the Tracys of Inernational Rescue. Bring on Tim Price…
Tim Dandy of Brown Cottonwood, New Mexico, to the rescue again! Thanks, Shey.
Love it!
A gorgeous set of photos. How lovely of you and your neighbour to bring the turtle to the water. He mighta given you the stink eye, but deep down, appreciated your efforts!
He was happy to be wet again. Thanks, Dale.
I bet!
Gorgeous skies and roses. The snapping turtle looks ornery!
He was fiesty. Thanks, Brad.
The sky is the limit here and the snapping turtle is a mighty find. Any word from owlet?
💗🙏🏼
The owlet is doing well. Thanks, Cindy.
Oh good, You’re welcome.. Will he come home to his little family?
I LOVE turtles.
Turtles are cool. Snappers are rather snappy. Thanks, Rebecca.
Snappers are very snappy indeed!!! YIKES!!!
Your animals are so photogenic!! Lots of cool shots here! 🐢📸🌄 Spunk looks especially ethereal in the last shot!
Thanks, Samantha.
I love the one with Spunk and Jake? Could they have been conspiring??
Spunk is trying to ingnore Jake. Jake always ignores Spunk. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim. “I’m ignoring you, I’m ignoring you more” can be a satisfying game to play.
Great pics ! Love the turtle 🐢
Thanks, Holly.
My pleasure
Wonderful and the turtle must be so happy. Cats are so beautiful, as is Jake. Sunrise is always my favorite time.
Thanks, Gigi. The turtle was happy to be back in the water.
Some excellent shots again, Tim. Loved ’em all!
Thanks, Inchy.
My pleasure, Sir.
I’m so jealous of your pictures of a snapping turtle. I love turtles 😁. All the pictures are wonderful 🌅
Another great set of photos, Tim! So you were mooned by Mama Owl? Turtle seems happy back in the river.
The turte got turned around, heading the wrong direction. Thanks, Lavinia.
I love your kindness to the turtle. ❦🕊
Great beauty shot of Spunkie-Poo 💋 and Jake looks terrific. Funny how they sit backs to each other. xx
The turtle was a snappy little guy. Spunk is the only cat that still acts afraid of Jake. He’s such a drama queen. Thanks, Resa.
Geez… you should have never sprung for Spunkie-Poo 💋 ‘s acting lessons.
He had to learn to act to pay off his destruction debt, which was a lot for many years.
Hahahahahaha!
Jake and spunk steal the show! Great shots Tim
Thanks, Julie.
