Another cloudless dawn

The Duck Pond was renovated at UNM, and now there are no ducks, turtles, or fish.

Tearing down the old Humanities Building to build a new Humanities Building.

They de-paved A Parking lot to put an Art School on that spot.

My, that’s a big cracker you have there, Belafonte.

The hippo in the sky
Out with the old and in with the new. Hope the ducks, fish and turtles come back!
That is a mighty big cracker!
Trying to see your hippo. I see a man leaning back with binoculars looking for the hippo!
A man with binoculars is valid. The old Humanities Building is semi-historical in that it’s a Cubist-style building. However, UNM can’t keep it because the Department of Higher Education has a net-zero square feet policy. In order for any state-funded university or college to build new buildings, they have to demolish the same amount of square footage as the new buildings. Thanks, Dale.
Glad you think so! Wow… That’s some law.
What a huge mouth the hippo has. Looks positively joyful.
Hippos are big mouths. Thanks, Cheyenne.
Sad there are no ducks in the pond. 🥲
Maybe they will reintroduce ducks. It’s weird to have a duck pond sans ducks. Thanks, Cidny.
I hope soooooo! So weird! 💕
Nice spread.
Thanks, Shey.
Hippo laughing at man’s ‘innovations’!
Mighty big cracker and it doesn’t look like he’s sharing!
He was not sharing. Thanks, Marina.
Saddest, the Duck Pond. Best Belafonte. All thought provoking, too.
It is sad.. I think they will reintroduce ducks. Thanks, Inchy.
I love ducks, especially the mallards, Tim. How I miss going to the park to feed and talk to them. But seeing and hearing of your collections of pets, keeps my spirits up. Cheers, mate.
I remember you used to go hang out with the Mallards. We both miss thoughs times.
Them and my Tree copse, Tim. It hurts missing them. Keep safe, all the best to the clan.
The new pond looks great.
Thanks, YC.
Oh, the humanity!
Or inhumanity. Thanks, DR.
Fun tour Tim, and glad the clouds arrived. Did they bring rain?
No rain. Thanks, Brad.
Interesting shots!
Thanks, Roth.
You are welcome.
That’s a beautiful capture!
Thanks, Holly.
It is good to see Belafonte’s smiling beak again!
He’s a silly bird. Thanks, Lavinia.
I see a bear in the clouds 🤣. Nice pictures. Hopefully the ducks and other creatures return.
A bear is valid. Thanks, Robbie.
Love all the UNM architecture and construction stuff going on!! Your bird is so cute, too! 💓
Belafonte is a hoot. A peep, really. Thanks, Samatha.
So why is the humanities building being deconstructed? Are there dueling theories involved?
How awful for the duckless pond
I’m hoping they reintroduce ducks. What’s a duckpond without ducks? Thanks, Gigi.
Right?
An art school sounds cool.
I don’t see a hippo, but I do see Jake in the lower right, with W.C. Field’s head just above to the left.
All valid pareidoliaditis. The old art building was built in the late 70s. Not a great building to begin with. I spent a lot of time there working on my art/photo degree (ended up with an art/photo minor, six hours short of a double major), and not a thing has changed in that building since I was there in the early 80s. It’s definitely time for a new building. Thanks, Resa.
Sounds like you are right, Tim. And I learned a new word. pareidoliaditis
I don’t think the “ditis” on the end of “pareidolia” is considered legitimate, but it made sense to me.
