I actually have no idea what I did to get the art effect on the dawn photo. The coyote was cute. Iwas only about 20 feet from Jake and me, acting playful. Thanks, Dale.
When I took a cloud painting workshop last Sun, I opened your blog for reference pics! But they gave us no yellow or red, so I went with something else because I couldn’t replicate the sun rise/sets.
Agreed! There were LOTS of complaints. The “instructor’s” respinse of, “it’s a limited palette” (no kidding), was one of a billion ways that he eas a complete ass. I didn’t catch his name but plan to send a letter about him to the company he’s supposed to be representing/promoting.
That is a beautiful molten dawn beyond those clouds. And a handsome coyote, too. He is more on the rusty reddish side than the ones I have seen around here.
We had some cooling mist come through this morning, but it is hot and partly cloudy right now, 90s in the shade.
He’s cute! We had a coyote who used to play with our dog. They would chase each other around a bush. It was funny to watch. I didn’t encourage it, though, because coyotes can carry rabies.
Did you have Jake when you encountered that “playful” coyote…if so, I wonder if it was trying to draw him out. Happens all the time out here in the country – one comes out directly in front of a pet and lures it after it. Then its packmate bastards close in from the sides, all she wrote.
Jake was there watching it. The coyotes are wary of Jake since he outweighs three or four of them together. There were six to eight coyotes that came running by us at top speed, and then started running amok back and forth through the undergrowth about 30 feet from us the other evening. I’m not sure what got them going. I believe we surprised them, and they acted confused about what they were running after or from. It was really weird. After they collected themselves and continued on their way, they started a real howl fest, like they were talking about us behind our backs. Thanks, Brian.
Fun with photography!
And that coyote is a cutie!

I like “mistakes” – they are often fun. That’s pretty darn close!
Interesting what comes out of nowhere. That was close.

Only yellow and red? Weird. Thanks, Leenda.
No yellow or red, only blues, a grey, and a brown… for clouds.
I misread. Still weird.
No kidding! How did Jake react?
He just sat there and looked at the coyote.
He is quite the chill dog!
He is chill.
Hot air balloons??
Yes. We have cool mornings. Thanks, Leenda.
Coyote knows where there’s plenty fun.
Coyotes just want to have fu-un. Coyotes just want to have fun! Thanks, Shey.
Sweet sweet Wile E. Jr.!!!! What a cheerful encounter! So, did you [or Jake] play with him?
Love the dawn sequence.
As best we could. It beccame interested in something else. Thanks, Marina.
Certainly looks like the call to play!
But like a teenager with ADHD, something else caught its attention. Thanks, couriers.
Cool psychedelic Dawn. So did you and Jake play with Wile?
Thanks, Brad.
Coyotes can be cute when they aren’t killing!
True. Thanks, Tiffany.
I really like the “balloons from a distance” photo. They form a pleasing pattern in the sky.
They caught my eye. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
Great pictures of dawn. And your coyote! Wow!
Thanks, Nancy.
Love the coyotes! Love hearing their howls. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks, Michele.

Not cool.
I used stronger words!
Baloon time again!
October is the Balloon Fiesta. Balloonists fly most mornings out here. Thanks, Geoff.

The coyote looked foxy in dawn’s orange light. Thanks, Lavinia.
Your skies are amazing and the coyote is adorable.
Thanks, Gigi.
That coyote is adorable.
Beautiful sky pics, thanks Tim! xx
Thanks, Resa.

Jake wants to make freinds, but I don’t want them to be too friendly. Thanks, Dawn.
Love the weird photo.. the colors are amazing. Awwww he was so cute but yeah I agree, Not a good idea to make “friends” with Mr. Wile E!
Thanks, Cindy.
