Yes, they are, indeed. Blue jays will do this too. My mother had a cat that was dive-bombed by a blue jay. The jay lost the battle, but the cat got pecked pretty badly.

I see the flycatcher. Just catching up here Tim. Occasionally I have been dive-bombed by grackles up here.
I’ve never seen grackles in the valley, but apparently they do show up in some parts of the city.
They would follow and occasionally dive-bomb me when I was walking or working around their nest in a tree by the old garage.
