    visceral and sadly true but your beautiful rose hardly seems beaten.. so gorgeous I can smell it from here… what variety is it? does it smell? 💖

    • Thanks, Cindy. The rose is Touch of Class. She probably has a sweet scent in humid areas, but her scent is faint in our dry climate. You see her beauty despite her ragged edges from insects and beatings by heavy rain and hail. She is an exquisite exhibition rose. However, if I entered her in a rose show in the condition I have captured in the photo, the judges would be horrified and I would be ridiculed. A sad reality which I believe is tangentially reflected in the poem.
