Bunny Log

Hare date 8-15 in the blessed year of our mother goddess Freyja two-thousand twenty-two. The human who walks around shooting everyone with a Bazooka was trying to irrigate. After the water that came flooding in, and forced me out of my culvert, stopped, the bazooka-wielding Paparazzo walked out to the Acequia Madre and discovered the water had stopped running in the mother ditch. Word had it that the giant diesel pumps up north that fill the Acequia Madre from the Rio Grande went south, so now il Paparazzo has to finish irrigating in the wee hours of the morning under the crescent smile of Máni.

¡Adios muchachos y muchachas!

Half The Dog He Used To Be

Sunset

He thought he was off to school to be tutored
But off to the vet, he went, to get neutered
Now he’s sad, half the dog he used to be
They put on a cone, adding insult to injury
When Buddy recovers from this trauma
They will fix his third eyelid and end that drama
He will be a new dog, like a new day
Oh Buddy you have come a long way

Morning moons

Surprise! Daddy Owl dropped in for a visit.

Daddy Owl eyeing the hummer perched on the branch below him.

RAW Power

I’m trying out a new photo editor called RAW Power. So far it’s pretty good.

Processing a photo of our bunny in RAW Power.

Almost the same devilishly cool temperature inside as outside.

Pretty Peonies

Purple Haze

Tiny hummingbird in the tangle heart tree
Chokes on smoke from a distant fire
Purple haze on Sandia’s gray
Pink snuffed out while beaver plays
Owls fall silent have they taken their leave?
A dove coos atop Mia’s tree
Nighthawk flies erratically
Bat cuts through the air
Hangs thick

Purple Collar

A hummingbird landed in my path as I was walking down the side of the levee into the bosque. He said: “Who is that parading past my perch”? I said, “It is only I a lowly paparazzo out for a walk to find wild willing subjects like you!” The hummer responded “Well here I am, get in your shots. I can’t wait all day.”

Note: I saved the images larger, so you can get a good view of the images by clicking on them.

“Hows this side? Do you like my purple collar?” he asked. “You are quite a handsome hombre! Your collar is lovely.” I answered.

Intermission: Here’s a Downy Woodpecker chick in a cottonwood waiting for Mama to bring him breakfast.

“How’s my profile?”
