A load of lumber I bought to build a ramp
I’ve been planning to build a ramp to the front door for quite a while. Since the house is 32 inches off the ground (we are 16 feet below the river), the ramp is 32 feet long, but will be longer when I add the final piece that will bring the slope to the ground. I’m worn out. While I used to be strong, between lots of chemo from years gon by, and age, I’ve become a 198-pound weakling. Lifting the ramp up and securing it to the landing was quite an ordeal.

Aging is not for the faint of heart. Hugs
No, it’s not, and if you are faint of heart, you don’t make it to the age to discover that. Thanks, Robbie.
True 🙏💞
Awwww Timothy. At least you did it xx
Finally. If someing happend where either one of us was in a wheelchair, we would not be able to get in the house. Thanks, Shey.
Seriously well done.
If my Star Trek Transporter Device would work I could give you a hand…
We sure need that transporter. Thanks, Herman.
Sounds like quite a project but will be nice entry when you’re done! You might consider Herman’s offer though – his Transporter would make it a whole lot easier.
Pam and Teddy
A transport would be nice. Thanks, Pam and Teddy.
Wow that’s a big endeavor. Gorgeous photos!
Thanks, Cindy.
💗💗💗
That sounds like a big project, but hopefully worth the effort. I’m amazed at your diverse eco systems.
Thanks, Brad.
I’m curious, do you ever trim your cats nails? My Oliver has the longest and curly nails, he is always stuck in something, I’ve been trying to cut them but it’s not easy.
I rarely trim their nails, but I did trim Loki’s nails the other day because he was getting caught in things, including me. You can get a cat bag, which makes it easier to trim nails. Thanks, Tiffany.
I will look into that, thanks Tim!
And no one can help you? Is there a particular reason you are building a ramp or just being proactive.
That pond didn’t last long, did it? Gorgeous shots.
Mostly proactive. When Susan broke her leg two years ago, she was stuck in her house. I built ramps for her so she could get out of the house. She uses a walker now and the ramps help a lot. I started thinking if either of us ended up in a wheelchair, we would be able to get into the house. Also, now Susan will be able to come and visit again. Thanks, Dale.
Smart cookie… but would be nice if you had a good neighbour to help you!
The problem is I would have to manage a good neighbor and still do most of the work.
I hear you. At least you have skills. I’m useless and everything costs me a small mint for little jobs!
It can be diffucult to get people to do small jobs out here.
I get it. Just cost me an arm and a leg to replace the bricks at the top of my door. “Too small of a job” for most bricklayers.
Small jobs are a problem, especially when it comes to bricks because you need bricklaying skills to do it right.
Exactly. Thankfully, my door guy had a brick guy who was willing to come and do it on a Saturday!
That ramp looks like work, as Two and a Half Men lamented, there is ‘a guy’ for that
That guy is moi! Thanks, Brian.
That’s a perfect sunrise! I like your TimKu, too, I always wonder what could have happened when I come upon a single abandoned shoe.
Single shoes are pretty common in the river and bosque. Thanks, Liz.
You”re welcome, Tim. Do you know how they come to be there.
Not really. If you are wading in the river, it’s easy for a shoe to get stuck in the clay and your foot to pull out of the shoe. If you are in knee-deep water, it will be almost impossible to find the shoe in the muddy water and strong current.
OK, got it!
You are still getting out there and doing what you can, Tim. What you still do is amazing to me, and an inspiration! I would love to see some photos of the ramp in progress.
Loki has some serious nails!
Those were the in-progress photos. I finished as much as I’m doing for now this evening. Thanks, Lavinia.
I knew it! Finally a faux paw post, and with a boot, to boot.
You really clawed out this post, but then ramped it up.
Actually, the ramp looks good. x
What a great and creative response. All ramped up now! I keep running into lost soles in the bosque and on the river bed. Thanks, Resa.

Oh man, I’m feeling you with the ramp! Wow, that’s a ton of work! Good for you! Hope you get Some rest. Beautiful photos, Tim!
Thanks, Cindy.
