Turtles have their heads barely out of the water, holding their mouths open, waiting for a meal to come close enough to snatch.

  1. As always a varied collection of beautiful photographs and animals. Another great post, Tim!

    • Thanks, Herman. The cats are a little miffed that there are so many critters taking up space on the latest posts.

    • You are welcome, Jane. Lots of critters are coming out for spring. Thanks for dropping by.

  2. Nice tin on the hepatic. The females in the tanager family got slighted in their color allocations for sure, but still a fun bird. Are two turtles in the muck worth more than 5 bumps on a log?

    • If the two turtles get a hold of you, you certainly think five bumps on a log, or five bumps from a log are better deals. There was a red tanager in the leaves above the female that I could not get a clear shot of. No idea if it was a flamer. Thanks, Brian.

  3. Those are beautiful wildlife photos from the riverside and bosque, Tim. I hope little owl outside the nest is staying warm enough at night, and keeping well. The two snapping turtles in the mud puddle are interesting.

    • It seems to be staying warm. They are both outside the nest now. Thanks, Lavinia.

    • I can’t say why the large owlet left the nest. Could be it didn’t like its little brother. Anyway, that turned out to be bad news for the little brother. Thanks, Resa.
