Reflections On An Inch Of Rain

Orange Dawn

Gas Station parking lot

Don’t be fooled, that pond in the parking lot of the local gas station is 2 to 3 feet deep (0.61 to 0.91 meters) from almost an inch of rain last night.

Happy flowers

  1. That was some storm last night! Up here I got almost an inch and a half. But what really stands out to me is the thunder. It was some of the loudest I have ever heard. It sounded like the lightning was directly over my house.
We needed the rain and I am glad that monsoon season is here.

  2. TImothy I wish I could send you some of the bucketloads that have fallen here this week.

and today looks like there’s gonna be more.. We get too much you get too little. damned unfair

      • When I was a kid I spent summers on grandma and grandpa’s farm. They had a well. You had to drop a bucket down hundreds of feet and get the purest water , so sweet. Soon that got water in the farmhouse. I had so many cavities as a child, I’m thankful for fluoride . Of course Fl is removing fluoride from the water. Crazy RFK Jr.

        • Most of my friends who grew up out here on well water didn’t have cavities. I haven’t had a cavity in years. I think it has to do more with what you eat. Or maybe the arsenic in our water works like fluoride. Choose your poison, I suppose.

          • Fluoride is proven to protect one’s teeth. Our children will not have the opportunity to keep their teeth nice. Even the dentist who could benefit from this are saying this is wrong. 😑

  3. That is a lot of rain in a short period of time. 2 to 3 feet deep is a lot! We are not getting any up here right now, but the cloudy to partly cloudy days is helping keep the temperature down and I can get some outside work done.

  4. Bushwa! I was not expecting that giant puddle of a parking lot to be well… drowned. Cool reflection though, and I like that turquoise door.
The orange dawn is beautiful. Red sky at morning — sailor (and New Mexican) take warning… Why is it that now I can’t stop thinking about a mimosa? LOL. Hugs.

    • Haha! Thanks, Teagan. The parking lot has a major depression. You don’t want to drive through that puddle.

  5. That is a lot of rain to come down at one time. We ended up getting a storm here while were up at a dog show – straight lines winds or a narrow tornado ripped a line through our woods sheering 16 inch trees half way up their height for ~300 foot distance – way too close to our house, another 100 feet and I’m looking for contractors. Fortunately, I am just lining up a tree service to take care of it while I’m out of service.
