Like A Skinny Crow

Like a Skinny Crow
Lyrics and Music by Timothy Price

Are they really so enlightened?
When they spread their darkness all around
Crushing creatives under foot
Oblivious to the pain they cause
They gather, and they celebrate
Making fun of deplorables who they hate

We are like a skinny crow
Scavenging in a parking lot
Wandering in a wilderness
of cement, rocks, and hot asphalt
Tearing at the morsels
Secured in those crumpled bags
Dodging tires than the drivers
No one seems to give a damn

I put on my spectacles
Only to see the spectacle
Of those who we trusted with our votes
Up to no good, selling us short
Got up the courage to ask them why
They said, β€œYou fool, ungrateful guy
Everything we do is for your own good
We know what’s best, please go away
You must be grateful and do what we say”

We are like a skinny crow
Scavenging in a parking lot
Wandering in a wilderness
of cement, rocks, and hot asphalt
Tearing at the morsels
Secured in those crumpled bags
Dodging tires than the drivers
No one seems to give a damn

    • And the media. When Trump came to Albuquerque in 2016, I photographed the riot. The rioters attacked a police horse and knocked it off its feet. You might have heard about that. Total nonsense. I never posted the photos from the protest or the riot because I didn’t want to give Trump, the protestors, or the rioters publicity.

      • I did hear about the horse knocked off its feet. Must have taken a few peopleto accomplish that, or the horse got spooked enough to where it slipped. We hoped the horse was okay. Didn’t hear more about its condition, unfortunately.

The complete idiot he is, he must have loved every second of the riot, especially the police horse falling.

      • The mob pulled the horse down to the ground. The horse was ok. The Albuquerque police have big, beautiful, well-trained horses who would not spook easily. When our office was downtown, I would pet and talk to the horses, and officers, when the when they were patroling downtown. The only time I see the police horses now is at the Balloon Fiesta.

  1. Now there’s a protest song of the kind you do not meet these days. Direct and absolutely moving!

[I – still! – cannot put a “like”, not even on my own blog, only thing I can is comment from my Twitter account].

    • Thanks, Sacratis. I get so tired of the nonsense our governments dishout. WP is so weird about likes and comments.

    • I’m so happy you liked it. I remember that post. It probably had a subliminal influence on my song. Thanks, JYP.

  2. Well done Timothy..although Vultures may have been a better comparison ha – they even spread their wings out to dry off from the carrion grease like politicians at a pulpit spewing lies and hate. I think the American people are wising up (fingers crossed).

  3. Wow, Tim! This is a great message/protest song.
Adore every note, the guitar (you are excellent on guitar!) the lyrics and your vocal performance. Thank you! xx

  4. Loved this Tim!! So good! Damn straights true!
    Seriously?
” police horse and knocked it off its feet”
Post it when he’s off to jail. Lock him up… lock them all up.
    Great Job, my friend! πŸ’ž

  5. A song for our times. Every time I see that orange asshole pull someone towards him in a ‘handshake’, I just wanna spit. He tried with our prime minister who didn’t fall for it.
All that to say, you sing true, Tim.

    • We skinny, and not so skinny (me) crows have to shake our heads at the antics of so many polticos and appointed nitwits. Thanks, Dale.

      • I keep pecking at and they just call me a “Pecker”. Our state legislative session is in session. It’s a never-ending fight with the legislators. They don’t seem to get the fact that they are supposed to be representing the people in their districts, not their own interests and agendas.

      • They are the equivalent of a human resources department in a company – nothing to do with the employees like these peeps are nothing to do with the people.
