I remember when I was a little girl, watching the Kilgore Rangerettes drill team during college football games on TV. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Hugs!
Hi Teagan. I didn’t know Kilgore had a Rangerette drilling team.
Hmmm… well, it’s (or at least was) Kilgore College anyway — might not be in the town.
I don’t doubt you one bit, it’s so funny to think of a college “Rangerette drill team” from the city where oil was discovered. It bought up images of roughneck women who look like Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders working the oil rigs.
They were the precursors of the pro cheerleaders we have now. IMHO.
For the couple of years that I managed to deal with high school, I was in the marching band. When the football team would go out of town, they would pile the band into busses to go support the football team. We had a 275 member marching band, and they never seemed to order enough busses, so when the busses filled they would tell the left over band members they had to ride with the cheerleaders, pomerette drill team. I always took the opportunity to ride with the cheerleaders and drill team.
Wow! It looks like a blast from the past! Like American Grafitti!
