I’m not really surprised, given how hidden it is in the photo you posted. I just killed another black widow. It was on the back porch, and I really don’t want them there. This seems to be a great year for them. 😐 Reply
Those are both impressive images. That snake just blends right in, doesn’t it?
She has a couple of shots the snake is so well camouflaged that we can’t find it in the photo.

The hour glass really shows up on the spider–amazing.and rather scary.

It’s a dangerous world out there…No snakes or black widows in this part of the world.
Ribbon snakes are harmless, but black widows can give you a nasty bite.
