Old sunflowers stood
Watching as Flower Moon rose
Jet streaks in darkness

Backlit battle raged
A Tanager got a wasp
Would have never thought

Watching for the storm
Colorful clouds are stingy
Once again no rain

These oddest of days
May 4th we go and flower
Overcome thy gloom

Ladder-back’s beak stuck
Hate it when that happens
What is one to do?

A ring on his neck
Watches world from tippy-top
Backlit orange sky

Gaze on candle’s glow
Ponder life it slowly burns
Happy I’m alive

More colors at dawn
Shapely tree on way to owls
A wild sunset too

Stories in the clouds
Dragon skewered by contrail
Owls were nonchalant
