Doppel And The Lunar Eclipse

Doppel

Doppel decided he had had enough of the wild and asked to come inside at 3:00 a.m. this morning. We took him to the vet for an examination and testing this afternoon. For the most part, Doppel is healthy. No leukemia or FIV. However, he does have an infection of some kind. The vet called at 9:00 p.m. to tell us Doppel would be ready to be picked up in around 30 minutes.

When we left at 9:15 p.m. to get Doppel, the moon was covered by clouds. When we got to the veterinary clinic at 9:40 p.m., the eclipsing moon was emerging from behind the clouds. When we left at 10:12 PM the moon was at peak eclipse. When we got home, the moon was covered by the clouds again.

The moon behind the clouds at 9:15 p.m.

Eclipse at 9:40 p.m.

Eclipse in stereo at 10:02 p.m.

The peak of the eclipse at 10:12 p.m.

The moon was behind the clouds after we got back home with Doppel.

  1. Doppel is adorable……and hopefully his infection is under control…..beautiful photos of the partial eclipse and sky. There’s never a dull moment when looking UP !

    • Doppel is a super sweet kitty. It’s taken us over a year to get him to be a domestic kitty. For the first 8 months, he hung around but wouldn’t come near us. Thanks, Pam.

    • I don’t believe I would have seen it from home. It was a good thing Doppel was at the vet for me getting the eclipse. Thanks, Cheyenne.

  2. Spectacularly moody skies and moon. Gorgeous. Thanks Tim!

Yay…Doppel is home!!! Good news on his health, all in all! xx

  3. What a cute little kitty face!
    I missed the solar eclipse!
I wonder if I would’ve been able to see here.
The pictures you took of the eclipse were amazing!

    • The triangle on his face is really cute. You were probably on the borderline between all of the partial eclipse visibility and some of the partial eclipse. Thanks, Becky.

    • We took him to an emergency/specialty vet. They are much more expensive than my regular vet, but they are much more thorough, have the labs, technicians, and specialists on site to give us instant results. Thanks, Gigi.

    • He is a lucky and tenacious kitty to have survived battling raccoons and avoiding coyotes for over a year hanging around on our property. Thanks, Cindy.

      • He is and he’s so darn sweet, doesn’t look like he could have. Like my Star. I’m amazed they all end up getting along. Poor Renee’s cat was always bullied by Ollie so she doesn’t come over anymore. It’s soooo sad. ❣️

        • Spunk and Silver do not like Doppel. We are keeping them separated because they will attack Doppel.

    • Doppel is healthy, but he had an infection we had to treat. After two weeks in the bedroom and coming out for little jaunts around the house while the other cats growled and hissed, especially Spunk, Doppel has had free run of the house, catio, and deck all day. He’s lying on the couch with Loki and Glend as I type.

        • If you have a place to keep the new kitty isolated in case Nala doesn’t take well to it, you can introduce them gradually. The problem with Doppel is that he was the feral enemy of Spunk and Silver. They have fought with him through the wire for over a year. So when the enemy came inside, Spunk and Silver were not cool with that. After two weeks inside, and then hanging out with Doppel all day today, all three cats are chill.
